lol this thread reminds me of my DH mountain bike accident last year. Biking up in Whistler canada last summer when i hit a big jump in the bone yard and forgot to keep my fingers off the brakes. Landed, and accidently slammed the brakes, flipped my ass over the handlebars head first HARD into the ground.
I was on the ground for a second when a bunch of girls ran over and asked if I was ok, just kinda stumbled up said "yeah I just got the wind knocked out of me..." walked over to the side of the jump and laid down to die. Waited for an ambulance to come pick my ass up n ended up with a concussion, broken arm, fractured hip, and some other gashes/bruises.
So I just started to learn DH disciplines, and yesterday was out with a fellow DHer and supposably I broke the 40mph mark and then ate it supermaning on my left side and road rashed from my elbow into my armpit. Yep, I was wearing a t-shirt, jeans, helmet and gloves... But the funny thing was I don't remember the crash at all, so either I was in shock or had a concussion. NEhow it's probably a good thing, now I won't be nervous to get back on
i got in a fight wid a few gangbangers in mah hood! I beat them up pretty bad, seeing as how i could benchpress all of them together (like, 355lbs.), i left them in a dirty stream of justise. Unfrotuantyl, while layin "teh hurt", 1 of them moved and I punched teh conkrete. accidenty scabbing my nukkle and bruisin my rist. Hasn't really affected my skating though.

I sorta am. In october i had spinal surgery from a shark attack, i had a metal rod and 6 screws put in my back. Worst thing ive ever gone through. FIrst 3 days in the hospital i couldnt eat anything but ice chips ( while everynight my parents had something difference, italian, mexican, chinese) , had so much morphine that it felt like i was being hung upside down when i was laying on my back. Every afternoon theyd make me stand up and walk to the door of my room and back, but the pain was so bad you have no idea. Whenever they went to stand my up it felt like i had 10 fishing hooks dug deep in my back and someone was yanking them all out. Then when i finally got out of the hospital 5 days later, i couldnt do ANYTHING but eat sleep and stay inside for the next 7 months. And in the mornings i would have to yell for my mom because i couldnt get out of my bed alone, and couldnt sit/stand myself. But the good part was i have this sick scar down the middle of my back. And it wasnt a shark attack it was skoliosis but that doesnt sound interesting.
crashed on my motorcycle last wednesday....full gear shattered my helmet got road rash inside my jacket and pants on my right elbow and knee. Broke my right ankle inside my motorcycle boot. Doctor says if not for the boot ankle would have been hamburger from the twisting. Swelling subsided over the weekend now my ankle feels like a gamers dice bag with the rattling bones. I have an appointment today with orthoopedics to see if/when I need surgery 6-12 weeks beforeI can walk again

i tore my calf muscle. i cant take it ne more. hopefully i can get back on my board by next month.
what about you guys.
I tore my L calf (gastroc) 2 years ago skiing at Snowmass. Hurt like hell, upper inside of your calf. It healed well though. I've been dealing with an injury to my left index finger for while. I think I hyperextended the joint at the tip going in for a slide. Put all my weight on my index finger. It still bends but I can't make fist. I'd tape it up or splint it, but I couldn't work with any of that stuff. I need clean fingers. Oh well, it'll heal, eventually.

The PCL is in the knee. It complements the ACL. Tendons around the ankle are: Across the front; Tibialis anterior, extensor Hallucus, extensor Digitorum, and across the back on the inside; Tibialis posterior, flexor Digitorum, flexor Hallucus. This excludes the achilles. Notice the THD for the front and TDH for the back. That's how we remembered it in school. Tom's Hairy Dik in front and Tom Diked Harry from behind.

You are indeed lucky. A buddy of mine did the same thing to his ankle, only going about 20 MPH. They had to cut his leg off.

oh yes I know wearing proper gear saved my foot but had I been riding 10-15 mph faster I would have been thrown from my bike rather than trapped under it I most likely would have a bunch of bumps and bruises and maybe a broken mirror on my motorcycle (instead of barely a scratch). Everyone who saw the crash and those who responded to it said that my lack of speed played a huge part part in why I was injured.

My left wrist and hand is finally almost back to normal after screwing it up in a BMX crash off a ramp back in the first week of June or so; later in the summer I fell on it skating as well and re-injured it. It still hurts if I move it in certain ways, but at least I can lean on it now. All of my road rash is healed up from my first week of August crash and they left very faint scars across my face so it's not too bad - the rest of them are hot pink though, hands, one leg, one arm, shoulder, etc. I got my fake teeth completely 'installed' earlier this month on the 16th, so now I have front teeth again (and they look GOOOOD too, better than my real ones did). My lip that I torn up my face is also healed up completely but left scar tissue under the skin so it hurts if you push on it, but that isn't anything bad and you can't see the stitch marks unless you really look for them.

I guess you've just got to keep your speed say over 55 mph, like in that movie Speed.
