Default MTB Armor?

Just wondering, does anyone use mountain bike armor for safety gear?

Whether it be knee/shin guards, elbow/forearm guards, full upper-body suits, etc.

Ive got some pro tec pinner elbow/forearm guards in the mail.

a-drian wears the same over his leather when luging so he doesn't burn holes in em.

One of the DH dudes i know uses full upper body armor. It doesn't seem like a to badder idea to me. So iv looked into getting some. Cheaper then leathers and would give me a lot more confidence. That's the way i see it anyway

Edit: Cheaper then FULL leathers.....

I wear MTB elbow pads, really cut down on rash cause they cover the forearm too. A pressure suit would be a good substitute for leathers, but usually more expensive than a leather jacket.

Well Ive got my own elbow pads and knee pads, and found the 661 assault suit at 90 for the short sleeve one. I like the idea of spin protection, as well as the shoulders, just gotta make sure to find a pressure suit with spine protection where the fins dont fan out, would make you pretty slow Ive been told. But yeah some leathers jackets you might be able to find for less.

i definitly use mtb arm guards, i find skate elbow pads slide all over the place and i end up with scratches on the fleshy part of my forarm most of the time anyways. the combo knee/shin ones are great for sliding too, they protect the side of your knee and your shins, idk about the rest of you but i get a lot of board-bite on my shins when im sliding.

mtb upper body armor, for those of you who dont ride, is amazing, very comfortable, no heavier than leathers, and probably a bit cooler. some slight mods (covering buckles in teflon etc) make them great for longboarding, just forget about being aero.

plastic exposed WILL accelerate when u fall
if u r going fast wear something over it
sliding 30 feet would not be hard wearing a pressure suit
and who wants to slam head first into a curb at 40
not me
when it comes to safety spend the money up front NOT at the hospital
it's not a matter of if u r going to fall
but when
seriously
if u r worried about saving money good eqiup is cheaper
vs
missed work
doctor/hospital bills
peroxide and bandages
road rash at 35 plus is downright awful
and 20-30 really sucks

When you create a frictional force between two surfaces without input energy apart from initial velocity and inertia, you will slow down without any acceleration, since acceleration will be negative in all cases related to sliding on the ground.

And your rayzor link contains a virus. Not cool.
