    Default best affordable protective gear.

so im about to get a helmet, one full face and not full face ( i dont know what the not full face ones are called. skateboard helmets? i dont even know).

so whats a good affordable and reliable helmet? also what are the good quality brands out there?

for the not full face helmet im thinking about gettin this.

Triple Eight Brainsaver Skateboard Helmet Black Rubber

i dont really know much about protective gear. so can anyone recommend anything?

for my knee and elbow pads im getting a 187 fly elbows and pro knees (since i cant find fly knees anywhere).

also whats a good sliding glove? i know its cheaper if i make one but im too stubborn and i have a job so i can buy a legit one even tho they cost like $60.

whats a good reliable brand for helmets?

That or a Bell. I have heard good things about both.

triple 8 slide gloves are great. they also come in a lot of sizes so thats good. I have the brain saver and have fallen on it and it has held up great. would defiantly recommend it.

I ride and prefer triple 8 gloves. If I buy another set, it'll be triple 8. Loaded's are pretty good too, and I have seen some who have had to buy them because the triple 8's didn't fit comfortably, so if your hands are kinda big, try them on.

I have a GMAX full face, which is DOT certified. You can get one at bikebandit.com for less than 50, last I check. As for the bucket helmets, I don't know, because I ride a Walmart helmet.

While 888 makes a nice slide glove, they don't make a nice slide puck, so plan on replacing the palm pucks right quick. I think Comet makes a pretty good cheap glove.

Most people don't rock elbow pads. Knees and gloves are usually enough.

Although they're super dorky-looking, vented bike helmets are generally cooler temperature wise than skate buckets.

I don't know either. But Judging from the title of the link alone, I'd say you've got a safe bet.

The 'legit ones you mentioned will not last as long nor fit as well as one that you can assemble (to fit YOUR needs) yourself at, as you are aware a fraction of the cost.

I used some cut-to-shape cutting board pucks melted to my 'PPO-DESIGNED' wrist guards as a base to silicon industrial strength velcro - I then replaced the stock velcro on the, what like 15 dollar? 'Loaded' pucks from Stoked skates and put them on top (ya know after wearing the cutting board stuff down a ways).

I don't ride a skateboard without the wristguards on. I will without a helmet - I do it all the time - I simply feel that my wrists are constantly THAT vulnerable.

Oh, and by the by, 'PRO-DESIGNED' is a company I'd put my name behind. I'm on my second awesome pair of wrist guards and their elbow pads are absolutely top of the line as well.

    Good luck with everything!!
