Helmet help
Im raising the money to buy gear to get into downhill, which includes a helmet. Im lookin for a helmet similar to these
I know motorcycle helmets are supposed to be heavier than others, but i don't really even know where to look. Id like to get a helmet with a visor already on it (i dont want to have to make my own) and one similarly shaped to the Bell Sprint above, because it looks like it woud be comfortable to wear while looking up like when in a tuck.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Id like to keep it under $100, but i'd pay more if it keeps me any safer

Re: Helmet help
Thus far, there isn't a lighter helmet that already comes with a face shield. We're having to use fullface helmets from other sports.
Making a shield really isn't so bad, but if you're looking for it to be manufactured with the helmet, maybe look at the Icaro 4fight cut or the Charly No Limit. If you read through the forums, you'll see that these two helmets don't have as much protection as others when it comes to us knocking ourselves around on the street. Buuuuuut people still buy them.
Another option is wearing goggles with your fullface. For instance, if you buy a MTB helmet like the Bell Drop, you can use MTB or snowboarding goggles for eye protection like the bikers do. Other popular fullfaces around here are the Bell Bellistic, the Giro Remedy and the 661 Full Comp and the 661 Evolution.
For reference, a helmet is considered pretty heavy (for us) if it exceeds ~1000 grams. The Charly No Limit weighs about 700 g, the Icaro 4fight cut weighs ~850 g. The Bell Bellistic is a little over 900 g without a shield. The Bell Sprint, a motorcycle helmet, is 1600 g. If you can find a carbon fiber motorcycle helmet that gets down there, you'd be set, but those cost a lot.

My giro remedy cost somewhere between $140-200, its light on my head, and will save my life in an accident. As for a visor, as much as you dont want to have to make one, I will say that a lot of visors made for Charley's and similar seem to be easy to form to most mtb helmets. I myself decided to go the more handy route and use $10 worth of lexan, a jigsaw, and my oven.

Check it out dude, giro on sale for $59.99!
And another good alternative (although I personally hate the fit and feel safer in my giro)
$39.99 - $59.99

AFX FX-37DS
It's slightly larger than most helmets you'll find out there, but for a motorcycle helmet it's lightweight and is DOT rated, so you know you're noggin is safe inside of it. Comes with a faceshield and you can take the silly sun visor off easily. Only 100 bucks, too. I love mine, it's a little heavier than my Bell Drop but it definitely feels a whole lot safer.

Re: Helmet help
Look into the bell drop and giro remedy, and just make a faceshield for them.
