Re: Best looking and high quality helmet to cruise around...
I love my Protec Classic Skate, 2 stage foam, which means it's not quite as safe but it's much more comfortable and will protect you in most falls. I really don't like super hard foam helmets, I bought a new snowboarding helmet in early 08 with hard foam, smacked my head hard on some ice while wearing it and while it may have helped a bit, I still got a minor concussion and a massive headache for a week straight. I feel like softer foam would've probably absorbed a little bit more impact instead of just translating it straight to my skull, but I don't really know. The hard foam in that helmet cracked in two places from that fall, so I'll need a new one for next season...
Anyways, you can't go wrong with Protec helmets, they're made for sports like BMX and skateboarding, they're lightweight, and fit well.
EDIT: I had a Giro Flak for most of last summer until I broke the shell and foam falling at 35 mph. Saved my cranium, but I wasn't a fan of the fit and bulk of the helmet. I prefer my lightweight, low profile Protec.
