    Default new half shell

So i've been wearing a bell faction for a while and love it but it has a piece of foam chipped out of the back doesn't seem to stay on my head in a fall even if i change out the foam and stuff. Anyway I'm looking for a new half shell, something that's light and sits relatively low on my head. I was thinking of a triple 8 but i know they only have soft foam and i'm not sure how safe that is. I was also thinking of picking up a giro mountain biking helmet, anyone have any comments on this?

Edit: what about bern, the macon looks like a great helmet.

TBH I like my soft foam. I use my full face for anything serious, you probably do the same, so when I wear my half shell, I'm not going very fast, and that's where soft foam seems to do well. Hard foam will hurt your head more than it will help in a slow speed crash, probably give you a concussion. Probably save your life in a hard fall, but that's what I use my full face for. Iunno. I thought maybe Bern helmets were intended for snowboarding, or they have different models with different foams or something. December issue of Concrete Wave (I think) had a few pages on "what makes a good helmet" or something, might want to look in there for helmet ideas, there was a response from every major helmet manufacturer it seemed.

Protec hard foam seems to not fit me very well at all. Their soft foam on the other hand fits fine.

Yeah I don't think the Protec's with hard foam fit me (when I was trying helmets at the store)
Though I do know that The Triple 8 Brainsaver fits perfectly and is a fantastic helmet!
Try them on, you will never take it off when you go out skating... I know I don't until I'm taking off my shoes after... after 12 solid hours of shredding!
