feeding tubes are cool rite?... with the guys we ride with it is known that you wont get up the hill with us ( in shuttle) if you dont have some sort of helmet(we will let you walk up but your not riding with us down either)... atleast the helmet... gloves and other pads are optional but strongly suggested... i have no problem telling someone that they are an idiot and making them feel as such.... we ride longboards( personally i dh ).... this isnt a fu*king fashion show.... but if it was i would win.... be smart and atleast put a half shell on... if your trying to look cool or impress the girls your in the wrong sport... try moto or something for that... bet youll wear a helmet then

    my thoughts ^^

there is no arguement against padding up. knees/gloves/helmet no matter what you're skating.

you have one body, why chance it with one nasty spill. even if it doesn't mess you up for life you could be 'out of order' for months up to over a yea if it is like an acl tear.

but in the end, it's your body, your life, and if looking a bit cooler is more important than being able to skate/live life, then who am i to tell you that you're wrong. you're just short-sighted.

Sometimes, ya just have to trust the data, and stop rationalizing, with the mentality of: "It can't happen to me." I could care less whether someone wears pads. (I wear 'em, 'cause it takes longer to heal in my 40s), but Save The Melon! I have had 2 close friends that have suffered a TBI. (It means TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, not "Temporary Brain Injury", by the way.) One is lucky to be alive and the other might not be considered so lucky. At last news, she was in a nursing home at the age of 26. I'll step down off my soapbox. My helmet: a Bern G w/closing vents. Fire Engine Yellow. Every time I skate.
Pretty traumatic experience. I took a nasty fall. Since then I've been wearing a helemt. I have too much to loose right now. (College)

Personal responsibility for one's choices is dead and buried, even in something as simple as a plank with four wheels.

    pete..Having a board doesn't make you a longboarder-riding it does.
