Exclamation Helmet for the strangely shaped head? Help.

    My head is long.

    Like this long.

    Not really, but really.

I have found not one helmet to fit me comfortably and correctly.
Anyone have some suggestions as to a brand or helmet models that run long? An adjustable model?

I'd prefer fullface, but those usually don't even fit correctly at all.

I'm in desperate need of a decently fitting helmet.

try and find a helmet with interchangable pads. then if you're a medium, get a large, and switch the pads around the base/neck area to smaller ones. then the back of you're head can have all that room to relax.

I've found that space marines wear helmets that will fit those of us with unusual cranium sizes with surprising ease. I'd recommend hiding in an egg and then implanting your young into one of them when they come to check it out (lol humans), then once you burst out of them hide somewhere until you grow to full size. Air ducts work pretty well, DO NOT HIDE IN OVENS, it may look safe but I know lots of people who have lost a broodmate because they hid in an oven and got baked into a pie or something equally stupid.

Once you're full size, just find an isolated human and sneak up on them. Rip the head off by applying force to the neck, it's pretty easy but tends to stick. Then you just sort of shake the helmet until the rest of the head falls out. Checkmate, you'll be ripping up LV-426 in no time. If you've got the reproduction sacs for it, try sliding down the outside of the nuclear processing station. You won't be sorry!

    Hey Gearfire,

Giro have a pretty sweet range of cycle and snowsport helmets, from my experience they're pretty adjustable. (their full face mountain bike helmet claims to fit 98% of human heads!) so I reckon you'd be able to find at least some sort of helmet by them that'll fit you! it may not be perfect for longboarding but it could save your head should the worst happen.

Turns out I am the 2% that doesn't fit into the Remedy.

But these snow helmet do look nice for one, and they are adjustable...
I'd imagine the impacts suffered in Snowboarding are pretty similar to those in skating, am I right? (trees, rocks.)

    Thanks man

Yeah, I'd say you should be able to get away with a snowboarding helmet. I actually am a snowboarder and am just now trying to get into longboarding and a lot of the snowboarding helmets out there are supposed to be able to transfer to skating and the like.

Bump. I really am still looking!

EDIT: I've heard the TSG Superlight has a long-oval shape. Can anyone back this up?

My head is really huge and mis-shapen, too. I just wore my helmet until the shape of my head changed.

Brad Bowman recommends the Kanoa® Flyaway®, the best half shell skateboard helmet in the world!

Plenty of room fore and aft in the Flyaway® helmet.

I will customize the foam until it fits, no extra cost.

Dirthead, Mig at Fullbag, Steve and Hundreds of other skateboarders swear by em.

Not cheap but at $199, but its the ONLY fiberglass skateboard helmet you can buy today.

Those who prefer disposable styrofoam helmets need not apply.

I hear that some styrofoam helmet makers offer shitty health insurance to their employees.... too bad!

No question, my Flyaway® helmet will fit Gearfire's head better than any other.

    What's your problem ?

    ...too bad?

    ...huh...?

...Considering the point I think you were trying to make- I don't think that reflects anything about their helmet's quality.
That's because he's not making any kind of legitimate point, he's just trying to be an a**hole...

Am I the only one that thinks its ironic that a helmet company has bad health insurance for the dudes that push their disposable helmets.

If they gave a ####, they would give better insurance,

They don't, so they just sell styrofoam crap, and only styrofoam crap, just like everyone else.

Is it ironic that people get 3rd degree burns from the oven we used at the restaurant I used to work at and they didn't provide any insurance at all? Kind of.. In a lame joke kind of way, ya know. Harhar... It's not really a reason to buy or not buy either product. It still doesn't prove anything about the quality of their helmets.

So what in the world do you use in your helmets to distribute the impact from a hard hit into a truck at 35 mhp? Tempur-Pedic foam? Sorry I had to say it... But seriously.

    What?

    What?
They didn't have workmans comp? Isn't that illegal?

First of all foam doesn't distribute impact, it absorbs it. (if you are lucky).

The shell, if stiff enuf, distributes the impact.

I say use foam like you find in the soles of your running shoes.

Steve says he hit a guardrail at 30 mph in my helmet, and felt no pain, so my foam worked well in that instance.

Hit your head on the ground even softly in an EPS helmet and its gonna hurt, and then you have to throw that piece of crap in the waste bin.

Hockey helmets, football helmets, batting helmets, wakeboarding helmets even kayak helmets don't don't use styrofoam.

Your knee pads don't use styrofoam.

Its a fact that in Europe, the styrofoam in motorcycle helmets is softer than that in the US.

I mean the foam that packs your new TV is softer than helmet styrofoam.
    (think about that!)

That softer stuff would be better for head impacts, but it would also be ruined in one session. So they haveta give you the rock hard garbage instead!

    They call it EPS....why?

Cause they know if you knew it was styrofoam, you would know they were selling baloney.

I'm sorry you guys are in the dark about this but seriously.... this is important.
