Ok, so I absolute wrecked my piece of trash Giro helmet.
I'm ticked. I need a new lid. I want the best lid out there for longboarding. Preferably one where the liner will not come loose with minor little drops and nudges.
Sixsixone, Triple Eight?, Protec? Which have you guys had experience with?

My protec b2 is sweet. It fits perfectly on my head, it's durable, inexpensive, and its comfortable.
Ps I live over in Canton, CT, glad to see another Connecticut longboarder.

I'm going to laugh when the liner of your next helmet comes loose too. Most are held in by velcro or a small amount of adhesive.
You're overreacting, unless your helmet is cracked or 5 years old or the foam is chunked out, it's perfectly fine.

I was looking at the protec ace as an end all to all this tom foolery. Connecticut, hell yes.
And I used double sided adhesive tape to put the liner back in, and while I was pressing it into place (Very mildly mind you) part of the liner (the forehead portion) split off.

No way am I spending my money on another one of those helmets. I didn't even take a spill and I don't make it a habit of tossing my belongings around, and the thing broke...

Re: Ok, so I absolute wrecked my piece of trash Giro helmet.
As long as you get a protec with SXP foam, you'll be in good shape. The SXP foam is harder, costs the same amount as the other foam, it's fastened in tightly, and it can sustain many hundreds of impacts without compressing.
In brief, the SXP foam isn't like that crappy other foam in other helmets, or the soft foam that needs replacing in other models. It's Good8)

NO foam can take hundreds of impacts, NONE. Even with the SXP stuff you shoudl replace your helemt after a good hit. If your looking for a helmet with hard foam check out the bell faction, it sits a bit high( at least for me) but it's comfortable or the s-one destro at stoked skateboards. The s-one is supposed to fit and feel like a soft foam helemt but have hard foam. It will probably be my next helmet unless i just go the full soft foam route.

hundreds of little impacts (like droping it and stuff), but it could still hold up after one or two decent hits.

Re: Ok, so I absolute wrecked my piece of trash Giro helmet.
I dropped my flak out of the back of a car last night. Fine. I slammed my head into the pavement when I busted ass hard last night. Fine. The foam isn't cracked or dented and is still securely attached to the shell. Either you got a bad helmet, I got an exceptionally good one, or you did something to this helmet other than drop it.

Re: Ok, so I absolute wrecked my piece of trash Giro helmet.
As far as helmets go, I'd never plunk down more than $50...Unless its a DH helmet...In my opinion thats why Helmets (Triple 8, Bell, Pro-tec etc...) cost under fifty...You take a hard spill, you toss your damaged lid, shell out the $50, and ya keep on skatin...
I prefer the Triple Eight...It fits my melon, it comes in different colors, its inexpensive...

Re: Ok, so I absolute wrecked my piece of trash Giro helmet.
i have a eps Pro tec classic, and an SXP Ace. I am currently wearing the classic as it fits better, but it does have a loose liner. I looked in the shell and it looks like they hotglue in the foam. I am fine with the classic, but the ace feels much more substantial.
