Nike 6.0s + Roger Bros soles.
The Roger Bros soles are super grippy, when footbraking they slow you down a ton, but they wear extremely fast and leave little black flecks of rubber all over your board. I'm not convinced that they were worth it.

Re: Modified skate shoes
The rogers soles are so worth it! 5 for 25 bucks, excellent deal.
What are yall using to apply the replacement soles? Ive been using basic gorilla glue, works well. Gone thorugh 4 soles on this one shoe. Also, I applied some scrap leather to the inside of the heel, this is for my back foot. The grip tape just rips away the material there. I applied it with the fabric adhesive "might mend-it". Works great!!!

Re: Modified skate shoes
Thats what Im talkin bout SlyTX!!
your shoes look HAMMERED!! Awesome man,... and I like the patch for the inside of your ankle. There is no doubt you skate hard my friend.
Nice Nikes wooden. I shouldve gone for some high tops, but the Vans were what I had.
Yeah I wondered how long these Rogers Brothers soles might last, Ive only just done mine,... a bootmaker did it, dunno how he glued them but he put some stiches thru the front and back and rounded the edges (probably with a grinder)
So these R Bros soles wont last long huh? They dont smell as bad as raw sneaker doing a hard footbrake.
How do they compare to car tire?? Anyone tried both?
Dont eat lead paint.

Re: Modified skate shoes
Yes, they have taken quite a beating but with shoe goo and the patch, theyre still kicking! Ive got a black and white theme and sometimes mix match the shoes, check this action shot!

Re: Modified skate shoes
Do the rog. bro's soles effect board feel much?
-
Re: Modified skate shoes
Not at all I would say, Ive been using them for months and I cant make any complaints about them.

Shoe-goo seems to be working quite well.

Yeah these are mid tops. Comfort/agility of a lowtop and some of the ankle protection of a high top. I've used these soles very little and they've worn down more than any pair of shoes I've owned. Did 2 runs on Shoreview in Seattle, 50+mph footbraking, and probably 6 or 7 runs of Stark here in Portland, only footbraking into one corner at around 40 mph.

Not a whole lot. A tiny bit but you can still get good grip and feel the board well.

Re: Modified skate shoes
I used an old sole fro ma shoe and glued it on my current shoes. It hasn't been holding up as well as i thought it would though.

Re: Modified skate shoes
my shoes have lasted me for a about a year of boarding. I only footbrake when im commuting and need to stop for a stoplight. Otherwise I choose to slide and predrift...but in the cases when i do put a foot down roger bros soles do a great job on slowing down quickly...there very grippy which is nice especially for board feel.

Re: Modified skate shoes
I use some pieces of car tire, actually they last long and have good grip for braking, just make sure that after you glue them that you sew them up =)

Re: Modified skate shoes
d00d if your putting shoe goo on the sole of your shoe then theres no need for that. Its an adhesive and will come right off....I wouldnt recommend putting a new sole on with shoe goo either as it wont hold really well and might come out really uneven. The goo is really only good for covering up holes and keeping the sides of the soles attached (in the area where your toe bends it a lot).
