Default Speedskating gloves =/= Sliding gloves?

I've recently started sliding on my board and am pretty stoked to continue doing it.
My main problem right now is that I don't own slide gloves and I have no source of income so I don't plan on buying any soon.

It seems like my best solution is my little brother. He used to Speedskate (ice skating really fast, look up Apollo Ohno if you don't know what it is). Speedskaters go fast (highest speed is 40 Mph, and keep in mind that's selfpropelled without a hill) so they need gloves. Their gloves are made of a strong material and use plastic pucks on the finger tips.

My question is if I can use these as sliding gloves. Ice has a higher chance to cut then asphalt and the speeds aren't incredibly different. Anyone have experience on this? Or does anyone have atleast an uneducated opinion?

^^^^^ These are what they look like.

if you get some cutting board and attach a palm puck they should work. if he doesnt use them any more and doesnt mind the fingers getting ruined they should work fine.

Lol, I think the key point is.. if he doesn't mind them getting ruined. Pavement is not friendly to gloves. I personally suggest getting some sort of work/mechanic gloves instead because I don't think those speed skating gloves are cheap...

Slap some black velvets or other pucks on there and you're good to go. If you're on a budget though corian works ok but investing in pucks is worth it and they'll last you over a year...

    Right, thanks.
Pretty much I'm just using what I have to do what I can. And yeah these are expensive gloves. I think they're made with Kevlar and stuff so the ice won't cut the hand. I'll try to find some decent pucks for the palms.
