You're going about this all wrong. Learning to footbreak is important and can't throw footbraking out the window for something else. Practice footbreaking. Then when you have that down, practice groundslides, then standers after that if you'd please. It's just you never know when you're gonna accidentally end up going faster than you'd like and won't be able to standup slide to a stop. Ground slides are a hell of a lot more reliable to for stopping at speed. Standies, they are more of a slow speed stop and style move than a really reliable safety move.
