Because you make it so damn easy looking and I've yet to pull off a coleman or pendy after trying for 20+ hours.
I suck. ;_;
I tried maybe 3 hours total..my friend who has put in way more effort has yet to master it on his board.
I slid my first coleman on my semi-flexy, flat pintail with 68A wheels. I remember that it was all stance and confidence for me. First I got confident at 15-20 kmph, and switching between drop-knee and normal. I remember to get into drop knee I had to move my right foot waaay down the board, just so I could comfortably get my knee down. Then it's a matter of just planting the hand and making a harsh turn while keeping your knee tensed. If you still can't get it, lean out further with your hand and put more weight off the board (not fully on your hand, just kinda stick your butt out further).
I did my 1st slide with a bunch of girls watching. Put the pressure on me like crazy!! So i just went as fast as i could then got it to break lose. Slid about 10ft then came outta it hella sketchy. But i made it!!

I also actually started with toe side slides since that was more comfortable. Harder wheels and loose trucks helped too when I started sliding my larger boards. I'm still not as proficient as I want to be, but just keep getting out there and trying, trying trying.

Tricks and fancy foot work come with time. Don't expect to learn a trick in one day. Hell, it took me years to learn how to ollie a shortboard.

Ya I've watched tons of videos, mostly on colemans. I've been using a legendary demon with 81a RF S9 wheels. I feel like I'm doing everything right and the few times I've unlocked my wheels they made me slide from ~15 mph to an immediate stop.
I'm just gonna bug my friend to film me next time I get the opportunity to work on sliding than I can hopefully get people to critique my failings.
Also do pendys and toe side drifts always feel like you're on the verge of losing complete control? I feel so awkward and chaotic doing pendys and other toeside related moves.
Edit: I never could olly due to my legs never being reset properly after breaking my legs which is why I came over to longboarding. By 20 hours I mean 20 hours of nothing but trying to slide. Something like 14-15 nights of tearing up a Best Buy/Dunham's parking lot. :P
Just go out a few nights a week and just keep trying them for like 45 minutes. Time passes fast cause its fun and you really start to get it after a couple days out cause you build on everything good you learned the time before.
Oh and some of the best advice ive gotten is go til your uncomfortable with the speed then slide, it helps alot.

yeah dude eventually it just clicks, then you add more speed and keep pushing the envelope. before you know it you'll have like 7 slides down pat and you can start making combos.

Don't give up!! When you're at the stage when you're committed to really learning and giving it your all, you aren't going back and you'll learn eventually.

When you go down that hill, there's no going back.
Don't turn around, don't look back.
I'm at seven years of longboarding, and I couldn't slide at all for the first two, and I just dialed in colemans this year! Don't stress out too much about it, just make sure to enjoy yourself, and eventually it will come! And like they say, the anticipation will make it that much better...you will feel like a god when you finally nail it.

Gotta say I really love your sig. Gonna write it somewhere so I don't forget. :P
(Hope this doesn't come across offensive) It's relieving to hear another person that didn't nail a slide within some months.
