Smile How to Coleman Slide Article Survey -- Please Participate

I have personally written the home page article "How to Coleman Slide" with the intent to help spread the Coleman slide technique and reiterate it's primary safety function.

http://silverfishlongboarding.com/ar...man-slide.html

In order to gauge the effectiveness and potential success of this endeavor with the goal of writing further detailed How To ... technical articles by silverfish editors and members, we ask you complete this brief and simple survey.

Please be brief and answer the questions only. Any extraneous/non pertinent posts in this thread will be deleted.

Here are the questions:

1) What is your age?
2) How many years have you been skating?
3) What is your percieved level of skating expertise, beginner/intermediate/advanced?
4) Did you learn how to do the Coleman slide after reading the article? Yes or No
5) If you learned this slide, how long did it take? How many hours or attempts.
6) Do you wish to see further skateboard related technical articles posted on the fish? Examples are How to make slide gloves, How to pump a skateboard, How to footbrake, etc. If so submit a brief list of your requests.

Please answer the questions in the following format. As an example, my answers are as follows:

1) 37 years old
2) 2 years
3) Beginner ++
4) Yes
5) 1 hour to learn the technique and do 5. 1 month for it to really sink in.
6) Yes. How to pump a skateboard.

Thanks in advance for your input. This survey will help Silverfish continue to serve the needs of its members.

1) 45
2) 4 months -> 2 years (back in the day), stopped for 28 years, started again 4 months ago
3) beginner++
4) no - already knew it
5) I was able to do the basic slide, at moderate speed, after 2-3 hours. I still need to improve consistency, confidence, control at higher speed, etc.
6) Sure - All I know is that there's a lot I don't know. I'll read any "howto".

Many, many thanks, but one question on the article: My board isn't a "slider", but it is definitely slidable. If my goal is safe, controlled skating, isn't it best to learn sliding on the board I ride? I like to carve, cruise and pump, and my boards are setup to support that. I'm never going to be a ripper doing cool tech slides. What good is it if I learn to slide a board with hard little wheels and a kicktail?

only thing it does is help get your technique down without having to fight the board. if you were you trying to learn on 75a gumballs on a loaded at slow speeds you would never be able to slide. were you learning on a sliding setup, you would be able to practice at slow speeds (were your less likely to get hurt), get a feel for what your doing, then take it to bigger board/faster speeds. (the softer the wheel the faster you have to go to slide it).

having said this, i learned to slide on a basic complete longboard. (41"pintain op with 78a blanks.) so really, it doesnt make that much of a differance.

I've been learning on a Vanguard with 75a gumballs and it does take alot of speed! I decided to put together a slide setup so I can take things a little slower and get a feel for the slides before taking them so fast. I can rip some quick 180's but they're over before I get the chance to get a feel for what im doing.
