So i just orderd a evo with 76m kryptonics. would i be able to slide with them?
today i just grabed my old skateboard and followed that article on how to change it from a shortboard to a longboard, i did that, used the same wheels and all.
i live on a preety steep hill, so i decided to take for a run, it carved great, but it couldn't hold speed worth sh!t. i got speed woble almost instantly.
i've never tried sliding or even practice sliding before, but i tried going slow (on a steep hill : / )....bad idea, even before i could try it the speed woble got to me and i ate sh!t, luckly i just ended up sliding on my side and i didnt hit my head. so just my hip, upper rib and forearm is bloody.
anyways....would i be able to slide with the evo and the 76m 78a kryptonics?
You should be fine unless your trucks are incredibly loose.
Sliding an Evo will be easy due to the dropped deck. Dropped decks have less traction then non dropped decks if you were not aware.
Kryptonics are really smooth wheels and are a fun soft duro wheel you can pull slides on. Nothing too technical of course but pendulums and other simple slides are a breeze.
and now....what would be a good place to learn to slide for a beginner? tommarow i'm planing on boarding with my buddy whos longboarded for awhile, hes supposed to show me the ropes. but is there any site or video that teaches me how to do a slide? like step by step?
I swear I saw this post in the spot of your scraping sides post, that was strange.
Anyways, learn on a hill, use slide gloves, and put your hands on the ground. If you search, now that probably make sense, you'll find lots of good tips of learning to slide.
Just go for it, it's easier than you think. Alotta mental.
yea i've noticed its been metal, probably if my evo arrived i would try it. but do you think i could do it on the skateboard i have now? its a santa cruz setup thats been turn from a short to and longboard. still same trucks and wheels. possible maybe? i'm honestly afraid to go fast on that board cause of the massive speed woble
yeah i slide my evo all the time. it slides really easy but snaps back really fast but thats just because im riding on abec 11 flywheels. as far as learning how to slide, you should find a hill that you can get some speed on but levels out at the bottom. that way you can get the speed to pull the slide and if you freak out at the last minute, you can ride out the speed

remember kids, always wear protection when skating so that you don't get road babies.
You could try and learn somewhere like a parking garage where you can get a good amount of speed (fast enough to slide) and then make sharp turns, if you don't quite slide it, you'll drift and learn how to make some of those hairpins.
