Deck: Jp38 plenty of length for me, but has a short wheelbase so it turns like a shorter board. Also has a large tail for two wheeled slides, and the ribs look cool to.
Trucks: tracker darts, fairly stable and carve great, I like the feel of trackers bent pivot much more than indys...
Bushings: Tracker black hourglass all around, great all around bushing duro for me.
Risers: 5/16 flat risers on both trucks, plenty of room for wheelbite but still keeps the deck fairly low.
Wheels: Gravity supersliders.. slide great and are fast, so what else could I want?
Bearings:rockin rons steels, super quick acceleration, they've also been very durable for me.
Griptape: Jessup for life..
Helmet: Protec classic helmet I think.
Pads: none..
Gloves: THe new gravity v2 ones, the delrin is sooo damn fast.

Default Re: Concrete Wave Buyers Guide; How do you set up YOUR slide deck?

Deck
i ride Earthwing slide and street boards and some protos, but by far my fave is the forthcoming Earthwing 33" Slide/Pool deck, a 15.5 WB means i can set my feet in position and do nose or tail manual slides, sergios, toesides, backsides, flatspins and more without adjusting my feet. huge pockets and concave helps lock my feet in. identical length nose/tail helps too when coming out switch or going tailslide to noseslide or vice versa. the shorter 30-33" boards i use for fast technical stuff, and my 35.5" and 38" sliders are for more drawn out slides.

Risers
i use 1/8" soft risers just to kill some of the vibrations, theyre not needed for clearance on my setups.

Trucks
indy 169s. indy 149s on decks 8.5" or under. trackers are ok too, but i find they are harder to get dialed in to my preferred tightness. my truck hangers are faced, ands i shim the axles with aluminum stock when installing wheels.

Bushings
moog yellow 95a bottoms, DLX supercrush orange 90a tops, crushed tight tight tight.

Grip
edger griptape covering the whole top and wrpping around the rails of the board. the rail wrapping helps most on the sides of the nose of the board to keep my feet from slipping off during flatspins.

Wheels
Earthwing Superballs 62mm slideA (disclaimer - i did design these) these are the perfect wheel for me. centerset, wide, super slidey, and they beat the other available choices IMO by having an accurate core and a few more mm to slide away.

Bearings
Biltins are great because they fit great and no extra parts means wheels can be swapped on the fly, which means i can carry a few extra whhels with bearings in them and switch out any flatspotted wheels in seconds without losing tiny parts on the hill. on the other hand rons rockets are IMO faster and less prone to getting dirty and scratchy, but require speedrings/spacers. i probably use both bearings equally often. biltins when travelling doing multiple sessions or doing bigger hills, and rockets when just sliding my local spots.

Slide Gloves
triple8 slide gloves (available spring/summer '07) - full 5 finger gloves, breathable back, leather fingers/knuckles/thumb/sides, wrap around velcro wrist, padded leather palm, terrycloth sweat wipe on thumb, easy pull on loop and velcro removable UHMW-PE pucks in 3 1/2" round palm puck, single bar 4 1/2" x 1 1/4" fingerpuck or 2 bar fnger pucks each 2" x 1 1/4" and a 1 1/2" x 1" thumb puck
i previously used a homemade pair of wetsuit scuba gloves with velcro attached oil impregnated UHMWPE pucks in 3 1/4" round palm, two 2" round finger pucks, and a 1 1/2" round thumb puck

Slide Pads
i use triple8 elbow pads and kneepads, the kneepads are modified by shoe gooing 2 strips of 1/2" wide UHMWPE to the outside of each. however the 187 kneepads are truly the best slide kneepads out there, require no modification and will be replacing mine soon. i also use triple8 shinguards which have ended the dings and shin clutching from my toeside nose and tail manuals.

Helmet
Giro Bad Lieutenant snowboard helmet. i do a lot of helmetslides, mainly front but also the sides, so i needed a solid helmet and this one has lasted a loooong time. its really hot to wear in the summer, but has removable earflaps and rocks in winter.

"How do you set up YOUR slide deck?"

... with an allen key and some pliers?

sorry.
setup right now:

* Deck
Lush Kisiwa 55" prototype. maple, deep concave, really flexy, monster wheelbase, kicktail. perfect for surfy slidey stuff. It's way better than the old birch one I was riding before - much lighter, more responsive and more pop for boosts and things. If i were to have a signature deck it would be this - i love it!

* Risers
none. keep that center or gravity low! with such a big heavy setup wheelbite doesn't really matter.

* Trucks
Holeys at the moment, loosened off all the way. sometimes i do the front one up a bit for nosewheelies. i had some really knackered randal 180's before that.

* Bushings
just the stock ones. i'm not a great believer in getting tech with bushings, apart from swapping randal busings for indy mediums i usually just leave trucks as they are.

* Grip
quite a funky grip job at the moment - total coverage with four thin wood stringers. i usually have a big strip down the middle with no grip on for spinners/180slide combos, but the current setup seems to be cool

* Wheels
65mm cannonballs worn down to about 56mm - time for some new ones soon! still round though.

* Slide Gloves
lush ones when i wear them (not that often). i like to feel the tarmac and not wearing any gloves makes going fast more scary.

* Slide Pads
harbinger mediums when i wear them - again not that often! my kneepads are screwed at the moment - help together with gaffa tape. recently i've been wearing some tsg knee gaskets under my jeans - they give a bit of protection but still leave enough flexibility for boardwalking.

* Helmet
tsg pisspot. (when i wear it - should be on my head more often than it is... i had a really good sticker and tippex job on my last one but i reversed my car over it. whoops.

Board = Skull Skates Brutus: 36"x10" with a 18" wheel base. This deck has really nice concave, and with me being 6'-4", the length is ideal.

Risers = none

Trucks = randal 180's with flipped hangers, flipped kingpin, and flat washers (am I the only one on silverfish who isn't using tracker/indies?)

Bushings = stock yellow

Grip = the stuff that came on my deck, not sure what brand, but it is really nice

Wheels = 60mm mini-logo. I use these because they slide well and are cheap to replace.

Bearings = abec 7 from landyachtz (also cheap!)

Slide gloves = homemade from workgloves and UHMW

Slide pads = pro-tech kneepads with UHMW pucks (ugly but fuctional) plus bonus cutting board on the sides.

Deck. Its gotta be a Faltown 3.2 for all sliding. I know I'm biast but once you've riden one you wont want to slide on anything else. I use the 3.3 for any thing over 30mph as the extra wheelbase gives my the crutial stability I need to bust into a cliff slide at 35mph.

Risers. Surrey Skates 4mm shock pads-Gavin (Holly Trucks) makes some of the finest shock pads available in the UK.

Trucks. Tracker 184's all the way on the 3.2 but on the 3.3 I like the Holeys as they give me a bit more stability and controle at higher speeds.

Bushings. What ever comes stock.

Grip. Faltown Logo Tape

Bearings. The cheapest I can find as they ge trashed. I always use speed washers and bearing spacers to help against all the side forces they get in a slide.

Wheels. Bullets 66mm 98a or 60mm 99a on the 3.2- they role really well and keep and keep good speed in between tricks on the 3.3 I ride Zingers 97a 62mm very flat spot resistant and great for hauling ass sliding around corners.

Slide Gloves. I make my own as they last much longer than any other glove in the market but I use Faltown full finger slide pucks made from (UHMWPE).

Slide Pads. Again I love the Bullet elbow pads. I ride my elbows on my fore arms so that they ride up onto my elbow on impact gives me more freedom to move my arms too. I use modified Tracker Brazil sergio knee pads. I use prototype Faltown UHMWE Knee caps on them with extended rap around for knee slides etc.

Helmet. Again Bullet all the way.

DECK: PPS Cliffslider. 9.5x36 I love it, never seen any body else riding one. I like the width, concave, symetrical nose and tail. nice wheelbase. plus its super strong I beat the #### out of it and its hardly scrached or dinged. Bit heavy for ollies tho.

TRUCKS: Tracker sixtracks, I changed the bushings for khiros cos the stock ones aint turny enough. I dont like indies that much. I tried randals on the above deck- it sucked.

RISERS: enough shock shock pads under each truck so it dont bite. so it depends on what wheels are on there.

GRIP: whatever. its coverd in mud right now.

BEARINGS: Whatever is cheap, or salvaged from spares box etc. spacers and washers always. Sliding kills bearings. I dont think it matters what bearings you use.

WHEELS: Whatever is cheap. At the moment lush cannonaballs 65mm,(i got a good deal!) I also like PF 63s, (we can get those cheap in UK) these are a bit harder and seem to last a bit longer than the cannonballs. i also use whatever is cheap on ebay. So long as its hard and radiused it dont matter. (62mm soft krypto for sliding in the wet!!!)

GLOVES: Lush gloves with UHM pucks and patched up with gaffa tape!

PADS: Well, the kneepads have got anarchy written on them, not sure what make they are. the elbow pads could be anything, no label. Its all very sturdy gear.

HELMET, er- its white. I probably look a bit of a tit wearing it, but i would rather that than stack and smash my skull open.

I have 3 main slide decks: 31 in prototype, super fancy laminate,by Gecko and Faltown.
36in Faltown 3.2, 40in Faltown 3.3.

Trucks: in the same order as above, shortboard indy`s,Holeys,Holeys or Randal speed trucks,with axels replaced to fit bearings.Change the bushings in Randals depending on session.

Risers: Various but as low as I can get away with.

Grip: Faltown logo

Bearings: 31 and 36 anything as long as clean and servicable,40in Bones Swiss Ceramic all with washers,spacers and Rims.

Wheels: 31 Bullet 60 or 58,36 bullets or normally new Sergios as the are a fantastic wheel for tech tricks at high speed,I have 97a Zingers and mini cubic re-issues that are great at taking high speed punishment.. Any soft wheel in the wet I like Kryps blues.

Gloves: from mountain bike gloves, with industrial velcro attached pucks and add on fingers for when not grabbing.

Pads: Tracker Brasil sergio knees,Bullet elbow

Helmet: Bullet or full face if things are getting dangerous.

Also have: Gravity 58,36,33, 36 death pod,36 blanks and Sergios old deck.

i have no pics, i gave the last set of protos back about a month ago. i was told the next pair i see will be the finished product
