Well there you have it. Those are kinda lame, now that I watch it happening. I think we thought it was cool before we knew it had been done already
True, it sounded cool before I saw the little devil

yeah, so pretty much it rocks8)

in my experience with gloves and pucks ive found that the pucks wear the fastest closest to the hell of your hand (next to the wrist) than anywhere else. if you place velcro down there and have your puck hanging there it will last longer and slide better.
my 2cents.

I'm getting the new loaded gloves tomorrow...
I'll let everyone know how they are.
pucks slide but they wear down way too easily. took them basically brand new down a 5 mile 55mph + hill with no straits (ie lots o' corners) an after a couple days they were totally worn down.
they arre big and cluncky too. on the tag it says "one size fits all"

wasnt worth the $40 in my opinion. I would say its much worth it to find a good fitting glove that you can find and you can afford to shred (because those gloves get shredded) and make a glove that is cheaper, fits better and the pucks last longer.
BUT all that said the loaded gloves come with good wrist support
some of the guys from "northwest longboarding" clocked themselves going 62
believe it or not. its a little gem tucked away in the cascades that few know about.
about 6 switchbacks
2 or 3 "straits"
mostly sweepers
all in 4.5 miles
I found some old ski racing gloves in my basement.
got some industrial vlecrow
dug up some adhesive cement in my shop
put it all together.
great fitting and performing slide gloves i dont mind thrashing because they are cheap.
i get these pucks fo FREEEEE!
no friction. slide better than anything ive used
I posted this elsewhere, but...this thread being definitive and all...
oil filled UHMW, hand sanded & routed for perfectly rounded edges. custom apple design(lol). leather gloves. silky smooth. I love em The white one is a corian prototype.
And yeah, corian is technically a plastic, but it's more like synthetic granite. I prefer uhmw, it's lighter in weight, less noisy & less drag IMO.
These are my first ever pair of slide gloves. – I’m stoked and they work great!
I got the gloves (Ironclad) from Bunning’s along with the self-adhesive Velcro strips. I then purchased a plastic breadboard from K-mart & cut it to shape with a hacksaw. I thought I would need extra adhesive glue but the default glue on the Velcro sticks amazingly well to both the leather and plastic surface.
Like these gloves, I recommend ones that have an adjustable/velcro wrist strap or are at least a snug fit so you don’t have to worry about them coming off. Also, if you are new to sliding (like me) you may think that your fingers will never touch the ground...well you cannot always count on that, so if you choose to not put sliders on your fingers, then atleast get gloves with extra protection around your finger tips. I have had my fingers hit the deck when going across uneven surfaces and i was hugely relieved that I chose gloves with good protection.
After building the gloves, I went to try sliding...unsuccessfully. I have grippy 78a Gumballs, that do not want to let go. After stuffing about and getting frustrated, I accidently broke into a coleman slide. - Stoked!
Now after practicing more and more, I have learnt that you don’t position your weight over or too close to the board while sliding, because if it grips, your centre of gravity will cause you to fly off with it. (That’s just a tip for newbie’s like me)
But, other than the occasional fall, I am super happy with having the ability to slide using my DIY gloves!

Look like mine! Although that board is a little flat, or have you just worn them down super far already? Also the little bits of velcro on the puck might come off, but it's okay - as long as the large patch stays. After about 5 seshes, the velcro on the palm of my glove started coming unglued. I fixed it with floss + a needle :3 (floss is an amazingly strong thread)
I also wear fingerless, and I've touched moving pavement with my fingertips before. I never break the skin 'cause most or all of the weight is in my palm, and the fingers are like the grounding strap on a car, just dragging along (exaggeration, it's usually only ever a little bit of drag). At higher speeds, though - I might get fullfinger gloves.. Or this winter :P

The board is a little thin, yes. Next time I will use something thicker (gotta love trial-and-error).
I was worried about the adhesive properties too, so I have a tube of glue on the ready. Suprisingly, the ‘industrial’ Velcro that I have used has awesome adhesive power and no section of the Velcro has become unstuck.
