Well I scored out today. I picked up a cutting board of a good thickness for a dollar. Perks of working at KMart and finding back stock items no longer for sale. My buddy Derek's dad owns a glass shop so we can get some 1/2" lexan cut. Is this a good material to use for sliding pucks?

you dont have to consult with an employee and convince them your looking around for your mom
me and my friend went to home depot and took about 20-30 corian tablets without ease
there are drawers filled with them which are free samples to look at

Posted once before on a different thread but thought they fit good here.

I'm proud of these because they cost me under 13 dollars.

Leather gloves from Ross ----- $6
Industrial Strength Velcro ----- $5
Corian from Home Depot

3x3 palm pucks, 2x2 Fingers ----- Free
Hot Glue ----------- Practically Free, maybe cents

Hot Glued velcro to the gloves and corian so it's not going to fall apart. Hot glued the fingers together in a nice ninja turtle hand which I personally like.

Sorry, having trouble uploading it. URL will have to work for now.

The pucks seem to be holding well, they are basically stone. Any opinions on how to make these better?

Made these last night, good supple leather that is double reinforced in some sections. The interior is lined with cotton, so it wicks away sweat. And my wrist guards will fit inside them. Industrial strength velcro and 2x2 Corian samples from HD. Couldn't find any of the 3x3's or 4x4's, guess I will just have to wait until they start building out the neighborhood behind mine to grab some scraps. I'll buy some Loaded slide gloves when I get good at it. But for now, I suck.

Some people favor gluing or blow-torching your pucks onto the gloves but i'm a HUGE supporter of strong velcro because you can rotate and replace pucks much easier. I use corian samples for my palm-pucks and because of the way i put pressure on the gloves, the pucks wear unevenly (at an angle) instead of uniformly across the top. So what i've been doing is taking a marker and just drawing on the bottom of my pucks and after a few runs, i'll see what parts of the puck are sliding (b/c the ink is scraped off) and what parts aren't (where the marker still is). This is really helpful because I can tell at a glance how i need to rotate my puck to make the wear more evenly distributed.

What did you use to divide the single piece of corian for the thumb pucks?

A band saw in my garage. You can cut the stuff with a hacksaw or jigsaw if needed.

My first try at slide gloves. My friend and I each made a hand since we only had 8 pieces total.

I went with a left to try out since most parking garages are left turns around here. Used 3 Corian pieces, they use o be dark gray. Just sanded the backs down and used Shoe Goo to attach them right to the glove.
(Wal-Mart cards for Shoe Goo! They carded me, I was like "Why am I being carded for glue!?" and they said kids like to get off of it. So I said "Sweet, just makes me wanna do it now." and they gave me the weirdest look, hahah).
