I was looking at some forums and it made me think why i started sliding in the first place. I just wanted an efficient way to stop when bombing hills and after i learned my first slide i didn't want to do anything but slide. So lets hear everyones own slide story
Herb Neuman i was in his shop saw his gloves and asked about em, he then did a little slide demo in the parking lot once i got comfortable on my board my boy eric lent me his gloves at a gardensk8.com session and i was hooked
Faltwonskateboards, Chris Dahl, Sergio Yuppie ... you know what, youtube in general probably. And when I landed that first slide I knew there was no turning back. I haven't gotten that technical, but I'm still loving toeside and backside slides/colemans.
I pick up longboarding about 2 years ago (A long story). In the beginning, I was nervous at high speeds and my friends were leaving me way behind. I knew I needed to learn to slide. Learned on an old zorlac and mini cubics. My intention was to learn safeties, but sliding totally changed my focus. I can now slide any board in my quiver with the EW 35.5 Drftr & Slide A's being ridden the most. In fact, I'm skating more and better than I ever did in the eighties. Also, Cliff Colman was very inspirational
I honestly don't remember. I assume i was inspired by a video one the fish at some point and tried it out. all i know is i practiced in my driveway for weeks to get my first coleman down. since then i've just kept at it because the look on people's face is priceless.
tricks get applause, style gets respect.

There's two things I love. The feeling of nailing a really good slide and that right beside my love of the feeling of flying down a hill at high speed.
