Default Trouble with my Gumballs...

I just got a new set up which includes a 40" KS Scimitar, 84a gumballs, and RII. I am really having trouble getting this thing to slide out. I broke in the wheels with some good carving, cruising and a little downhill. I thought that they would go after that, but I'm still having trouble. I've gotten them to slide out a couple times but thats it. It seems that whenever I try to get into a slide I just end up with a real deep carve. I'm sure my technique isn't perfect and the wheels aren't particularly meant for sliding, but with the 84a I thought it would be easier. So any thoughts, tips, or ideas.?

thanks and best vibes,
Maxx

hey max.
i have the same wheels, they slide quite well after about 6 months. until then you have to much a lot of weight on the frontend of your board. much more than you would need to on other wheels.

Thumbs up Re: Trouble with my Gumballs...

Maybe they just need to be broken in more...

Maybe you need to put more weight on your hand when you go down for a Coleman slide...

Maybe you should find some rougher pavement...

Maybe you could try sliding on a steeper hill...

I have trouble not sliding my 84a gumballs. Just ride 'em more and you'll be sliding around town in no time.

I can 360 pressure spin that exact same set-up, it's definately not the wheels. Put all your weight on your hands and commit to the slide. Break them in, go fast, slide, maybe fall, do it again.

Get kneepads, and try again, I have owned 84a gumballs and they slide very easily (not very smoothly) but easily.

Yeah, you SAY they are broken in, but they're not broken in until you've slid them properly a few times. If they won't slide, how are they broken in?!?!?! You just need to skate faster and lean harder, get that weight OFF the board and get your foot over the edge to get some sideways leverage.

Thanks for all the answers guys. Pretty much from what I've gathered is they need to be broken in more, and I need to work on my technique. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't the wheels.
Thanks again,
Maxx

To break them in - learn how to powerslide and keep on doing it a few days, shouldnt take more then 2-3 days to break wheels in properly...

yea i have 81a gumballs and i hated them for sliding.. soo much chatter. i got 81a strikers and they are a dream. and if you end uhm in a deep carve it means your not going fast enough. u have to go fast to slide in gumballs are first. but you can do it.
