i would get a legit slide board if you were really stoked on sliding.
IE:anything earthwing with earthwing wheels.
if not, try something dropthru/dropdown.
IE:hellcat,Dropspeed,Dervish,Drop Wedge,Hairpin,Chinook. . . .
my 2 cents.

there are two types of sliding

1) "free riding" from what ive seen its mostly 180 standups or hands down, pendulums, stopping slides

&

2) "tech" imagine ^^that^^ but way crazier

I too have been thinking about getting a dedicated sliding board, I want either a Corchia, a Drifter or a Bigfoot. I'm in méxico and I can't try them before buying. I don't know if the corchia is too small or the bigfoot too long, how can i decide it?

ps: sorry for hijacking this thread :s

If you do some looking around there is a thread about a fellow skater trying to decide between those two boards Don't remember the details, but the main differences were that the Corchia is more expensive, but the Bigfoot isn't as stiff.

The search for the ideal great carving slide board or visa versa has been attempted by many. The dilemma is that both carving and sliding involve turning the board but with oppsite results. This and personal experience is why most riders on SFLB suggest buying a more discipline specific board.

But, if you are determined to stay the course, you might consider:
An old school crusier, <20"< W.B. 88-92a wheels. wedged trad. trucks Ride the kicktail with an aggro surf style,
An Earthwing superglider (I'm planng on building one u[p soon as a recon board).
Any of the longer slide boards such as 38" Drifter or BE40
HyperDad is online now

Thanks.
Is stiff better for sliding, or is that a matter of personal preferences too?

It's a matter of preference, but I can't imagine any reason for a dedicated slide deck to be 'less stiff' as an improvement.

I found out pretty quick that 38" is too long. I personally like a deck that is around 36"x9.5" or so. It's just a matter of preference, shoe size, height, and so on.

actually some tortional flex can help lock your feet into a slide deck better...like in the 38" drifters...
