Default too technical

is it just me or are people getting too involved into their setup when their trying to slide? im fairly new to longboarding but my mentality is just there. idk if that makes sense but if you have a board, then you can slide, just go for it?

idk i just think in my opinion people are getting too caught up in what they have and not just riding.

whats your opinion?

well, yeah...if you can ride it, you can slide it...

BUT some people (myself included) watch the paskapoo slide rodeo on youtube and want to/can do multiple spins, crazy sh!t, all kinds of standups, and tons of grabs and slides. this is where the fancy setups come in.

as far as sliding a dervish? yeah, people way overthink that...but tech sliding is a whole different animal, it's a whole discipline in itself, and it needs special setups.

nice post buck.

i agree with you completely. you CAN slide any board. but if you want to do some gnarly tech stuff a nice dialed in set-up will work loads better.

oh and to the OP if you slide alot get some spacers or biltin bearings, makes slides more predictable and increases bearing life.

In every sport, there are people who are more obsessed with gear rather than actually participating. That said, Sliding requires less specilized and less expensive gear than other type of longboarding. IMO most pool or park board make good slide set-ups and are not much different thatn the top of the line slide set-up. The slide set-up are better, but are only slighyly more $$ than a good shortboard.

agreed...it's called downhill freestyle for a reason...make the road the canvas for your streaks of urethane...

YOU WIN!
its pretty easy to slide anything, people just create mental blocks that for example if you dont have hard wheels or non lipped wheels it wont slide well
but yeah, just a mentality

For super quick rotation sliding on smooth pavement I sometimes put on hangers that have hard sliding wheels on my long super wide old school pool deck which I also use in the park and ditches and for just cruising around on too.

For drift type stuff on bigger hills I use my drop through bombing board and slide by putting a hand down.

So I guess that means I don't have a slide deck. I just slide what I normally ride.
