So I found this Rood Dood the other day in my garage. Looks pretty old school. I was wondering if I would be able to make this into a dedicated sliding board. The plan is to slap on some Indy 169's and a pair of 76mm flywheels. Would this setup work with this old board? Also, what size risers would I need?

EW slide a's, gravity sliders, or spitfire shortboard wheels...hell, any shortboard wheels oughta do

:o No, that was useless to me just tell me so I don't have to put that much effort into it.

it'll work, it won't be ideal...but it's gonna be good to learn on. what it lacks is a kicknose and tail, which is what you really want when you get into sliding a lot. but for now, this board will work to learn on

I'm not familiar with this deck. how much concave does it have? IMO most old school decks are great for sliding. I learned to slide on an OS "MikeV" deck, then I slid a Zorlac "John Gibson" before I even heard of Earthwing.
Go for it! Get that thing rollin'. I'd highly recommend putting on new griptape. Get the slide A wheels and you'll have everything ready when your ready to buy a slide specific board. Oh yeah, 1/4 or 3/8 soft risers work well with the slide A's

Hey thanks for the info. It doesn't have much concave at all, but there is a nice big kicktail on the back. I'm going to place the order now, this deck is going to be sweet.
why would you want to put flywheels on that board or any 76mm wheel ?
That is why I made this thread. I would like some advice on what would be the optimal slide setup for this board. Obviously this is my first slide board and I want to do this right. I think Earthwing slide a wheels will work good because they are only 62mm.
indy 169s and slide-a's are pretty much the standard in slide setups, i use it, i know probably 50 others here use it, it works. i wouldn't choose anything else.

I think also the "Rood Dood" was a department store deck - back in the days of Valterra... remember them? That's not a Valterra, but it's got that signature hard hollow plastic rails (remove one and look!), the safety caution sticker on the tail, and the factory-applied thin as 100 grit grip tape with the GIANT exposed graphic area on top... and as you mentioned, not much concave.
But now that we've come so far, I'd love that deck to set up myself - I used to make fun of nose bones, tail bones back in the day -now, that looks like a ton of fun!
I just wouldn't be worried about preserving the graphics or keeping it in nice condition... it's not a "value classic"...
I'd upgrade the grip tape. The old stuff should come off with a little assistance from a heat gun or hair drier even.

Wow. Looks like you hit that one right on the nose! Yea, I can't wait to tear this thing up. I think its going to get thrashed as I learn how to slide, but by then I'll be ready to buy an earthwing/landyacht deck.
