    Default Purptangs slipping too much.

Well as a beginning "slalomer," and an experienced DH'er, I have found 70mm purptangs are both fast, grippy, and fun as hell. So when I slapped a set on my slalom board, I found myself slipping more than I wanted. I weight 195 pounds and... I have no idea what the deal is. Anyone?

I think the purps are better than the orange. I have the 75mm and I use for LDP, which requires a lot of traction and rebound, but maybe not as much as slalom.

But I would suspect the rear truck before the purple tangs. I think with an RT-S, for example, even dewedged they would break traction. But I would hold the purp tangs up to siesmic/avilas with even softer duros for LDPing. I may very well be a lone ranger on saying that. But I have tried several wheels.

I should revise my first statement. I'm not starting slalom at the moment, but rather I have recently set up a pumping board. For the time being, I'm pumping as much as I can to get my form down. So I guess you could say i'm "ldp'ing" for now, just not on an ldp board.

I will look into my rear truck. Its a few years old... just a tracker skate truck, dewedged so the kingpin is vertical. it does the job though, it pumps like mad

The 75mm and 70mm wheels are very different from eachother. The 75's are a lot grippier and the 70's are not nearly as grippy and have a nicer drift because of the different shaped lips (the 75's have a square lip similar to BigZigs and the 70's are not as pronounced as the lips of the 75's are.

So basically you're slipping because 70mm purpatangs just aren't all that grippy (compared to other slalom wheels).

Got it!!! Thank you so much. I hadn't thought about the shape of the lip.
