Is there a button for deleting a post? I just found the answer at the TSA website.

I think the rule now is they have to be under 7" or something like that, they took out my ratchet once and measured it... I'd hate to have my tools taken from me so I just pack 'em in my checked bags now.

they confiscated my skate tool several years ago flying to japan from seattle (mistake to carry on) but i think they've eased up since then.

My brother tried bringing skate-related tools with his carry-on and the airline made him go back and check the bag.

80% of the time they will take your tools or tell you to check them

You can check your tools. IF you are allowed to carry them on..you just end up wanting to fix the broken tray tables or the seats that no longer recline. Also you dont get a chance to sit and relax in a cramped seat that should only fit people no taller than 5-5" and weigh less than 120lbs cuz' you are busy fixin' a plane that shouldn't be flying anyway.

i bring my reflex tool, and my 36" board on the plane. i strap it to my backpack, and put in the overhead. if it doesn't fit there, i ask if i can put just the board into the captains closet they have always let me.

when i fly i carry on:
    my acoustic guitar in case
    my laptop/messenger bag
my skate pack, with laptop, and external HDD

(musical instruments are allowed as an extra carry on item. no charge.)

i have brought all this stuff on a Saab jet for a puddle jump from Abilene TX to Dallas, then from Dallas to Oakland (and now SFO now that AA doesn't fly into O-Town)
