    Default Truck height question

What are the theories and what have you experienced with different truck heights? How does the board handle/react differently when the back truck is higher or lower or the same height as the front truck?

You talking about platform angle, or pivot angle, or what?

    Platform angling:

If you have a flat riser in the front and not the back, you will ride a little higher in the front. That should make the setup a little less drifty (more grip,) and a little less stable.

The other way around should provide more stability in sprint, pulling your weight over the front truck, and lowering the center of gravity where most of the weight is concentrated. This might also make the deck more drifty.

    Pivot angles:

The lower the pivot angle, the less sweep (wider the truck will make a turn.)
IE, a 35* truck will turn similarly to a Mack truck. A 60* truck will turn on a dime.

I'm not talking about angles. Let's assume each truck is at a good angle and that we are adjusting to make one truck higher or lower or the same height as the other.

Thats what I was describing when I said platform angling. So your EFP would be angled either towards the front, back, or be level.

i actually liked having the front a little lower. giving that forward rake that made it a lot easier for a tuck and getting your back nice and parallel to the ground.

On my Voodoo when I had Crails on it, I found that adding 2 degrees of dewedge in the rear (which was roughly 1/8") and leaving the front straight bolted, no riser, gave me the balanced grip in the rear I was looking for.

The principles of risers apply independently to each truck, even on the same board.

    Riser ALWAYS = grip.

Front without riser. Less leverage and less grip. But it's loose and where most of my weight and control is. So so what?
Rear with riser. less lateral force and more GRIP, more leverage. Leverage from the riser in the rear however was made irrelevant due to the shape of the board, the dewedge and slightly tighter bushings.

    Forward rake ftw.

Wedging in slalom is very personal.
I prefer the front of my bboard to be
about 1/4" higher than the rear..
