Theory is that your feet will roll over the centre line, adding leverage. 3dm did a 36" deck with a real roll, the Turners really only had a subtle roll, but the edges were rolled.

With soft shoes you can sort of feel the edge...

Not my preferred option for a deck.

Ick stick used a similar construction to Turner, but kept the roll on the underside, so giving a flat sharp edge.

The 3dm 36" was a fun ride and a clever construction...I have one sitting at home.

I've got a 36" 3dm deck. When I first set it up it felt like I was standing on a basketball. Couldn't get used to it. I ended up flipping the deck over and now it's a cool rocker deck.
    My Quiver?

Too many boards that I don't ride enough...

the short humu and retrofish from LBL are convex/rolled, as well. and people love them. i've read arguments saying that it conforms more naturally to the foot, and that makes sense to me.
