Default Slalom Trucks on a mini/ceviche?

Hey, I'm refurbishing old street decks and making mini's out of them and I was wondering if a slalom setup (Front bennet 4.3 rear RT-S with 70's zigzags mixed duro) would work well on them. I would probably use this setup for a while on a mini ceviche (8"x 28") until I buy a new deck from fullbag next year since winter is coming.

Would it be decent at slalom and/or screwing around with the ceviche tail?

Or should I stick with something like paris 150's? I could get them for cheap from a friend.

BTW: If someone can explain me the goal of wedging and dewedging trucks on a slalom setup that'd help!

i chopped my Gravity JP36 into a temporary slalom deck and it was fine. ran tracker rts/x and wedged the front with a dewedged back. so yes a slalom setup will work on a mini, not sure about a ceviche though because i never tried it.

wedging the front will produce more turn and sharper cuts, which in slalom is great to guide you through the cones. dewedging the rear will decrease the turn of a truck, like using a lower angle baseplate.

the combination of a wedge/dewedge will facilitate pumping so much. the rear will track the front and by not turning, all that downforce will be translated into forward motion.
TINKERING WITH YOUR SETUP IS HALF THE FUN OF BOARDING.

I'm not sure which specific boards were used, but when stiffer boadrs with concave and tail were becoming popular, many slalomers chopped and re-drilled street boards with good results. If you examine it, a LOT of Pocket Pistols boards now are basically re-drilled pool/park boards so they can be used on different terrain.

As was said before though, I'm not familiar with the ceviche, though.

Go for it. When we first started slaloming I was on an Arcane 24" mini with Bennett 4.3's and we had ridiculous setups up to an Arbor mini with Mission 1's and no grip tape. Slalom is all about having fun, at least at first. Just try making the cones with any truck/board really, then start working with the wedging and getting your speed up.

Good, thanks for all those great replies.

I'll be buying those next week then and I'll be set for next year plus those few sunny days left!
I'll try to keep up with pics next week too and maybe a review of the setup on the ceviche.

As for the risers, would two pair of those would be good?

That's not a bad place to get started with either. Eventually you're going to want to get a Khiro Wedge Kit, which is up there with one of the best investments I've made in skateboarding.

Cool stuff man! You're a nice cousin. Cool deck btw. If you haven't bought the trucks yet go with something smaller, otherwise get rippin'!
