Setup advice needed
next spring, i will mail Mr. MauiLine a cheque containing an undisclosed ammount of cash for a board. until then, i need to know what a good setup will be for a slolam board.
it will not be over 36 inches long and i'll be putting some kind of anti-wheelbite design into effect. here's my general overview:
rider stats:
6'3" (and growing)
190-200lbs
husky build
moderate downhill experience (if it was ski hills, i'd be a square/diamond)
(not that it makes a difference, but) 15 years old.
trucks
most companies are available to me, but i want to keep the price reasonable (no more than $75 for the set). Inde and Randal are readilly available. I know i need pretty small ones, so...yeah. inde 101's or randal 150's?
wheels
ABEC 11 Stingers most likely. i know the front two should be softer than the rear two, but what's everyones favorite if you get this technical. i will be.
bearings
i don't care what you say, but i'm getting super swiss 6's. i like 'em too much
i have a ton of cash now, after the holiday season, so funds will probably not be a problem.
thanks for everything. peace.

Get Trackers maybe midtracks or the new Tracker RTX for the front on the rear to cut costs put a newschool truck on and dewedge it put in bones whites....wedge the front for steer and go soft on the bushes, stingers are a nice wheel but not for slalom....go for Turner lacostas or avalons 78a you also want a 20"wheelbase....dino knows his stuff and will make a deck that will fly and you will win comps on this set up....slalom is super fast and very gnarly and the set up has to give you confidence to make cones at speed get to a comp or practice near you dont listen to the bullshit but watch how they skate..read up about fall lines

Go with the buddha, trackers carve tight while indys flop(great advice from mark maysey) and turner wheels are garaunteed good, I would go with avalons for hybrid/gs and cambrias for tight slalom maybey domewhere around 88a in the front for speed and 82a in the back for some control. Im just startin too and this is what the pros (gary fluit, mark maysey) have told me and everything has worked suprisingly well.

Just got a pakage from longskate.com, Traker Rtx and 82a cambrias for the front and Rts, 86a for the back. Longskate.com is great, good service, good prices, free candy.

what if the cones are spaced 100 feet apart mikey?
i can run 6' spacing on the bozi with randall 180's...
when it's just me i make it a point to hit them

ok. final decision.
deck will be used for giant slalom
MauiLine Deck (of course)
Seismic 130's w/red springs
ABEC 11 Stingers 81a
Super Swiss 6's
thin risers, if needed
what you say from here on will probably not effect me, unless Seismics are notorious for causing death or severe constapation, i'm getting them.

Those hangars are still a little big for anything tight, Doc. Id also recommend turners wheels over abec 11s for slalom, they just roll out better.

were not telling you what to do doc just giving you advice..like ya asked for. you could run 130's but youd have a tuff time gettin through cones is all... the smaller the wheelbase the easier it runs in narrower cones, I had randal 150's my first time out and 6ft cones were impossible let alone a TS course, anyway were just trying to help.

i'll probably go for the 110's after all. seems like a better idea

ok. opted instead for the hotrod with some Randal 150's. who. that took a lot of negotiation.
i need to get the wheels down now. i have all abec 11's between 60 and 70 mm. the roads here aren't all that great, so i need something on te soft side. i'm still thinking Stingers at 81a.
