It's true. I celebrate my inner dancing sprite upon the fluid rolling stage that is,

I have adjusted my avatar accordingly.

Boe, you douche. I was of course referring to Catarina (RAWWAARRR- hell, don't even know her, just always had a thing for the name) but will maintain an open mind where joe is concerned till after I've had a chance to meet him in person in a couple months.

Re: Help for New Slalomers! (please read)
By the by Boe, did joe mention the tentative arrangements for a swaraeup closer your way early this summer to do some kite boarding?
Gawd I miss the delete function where you could clean up threads by combining content then pulling the extra entries.

Re: Help for New Slalomers! (please read)
Ok, I'm getting into Slalom and this is what I'm thinking about for my first setup...
Axe II 20" Wheelbase Version
Split Duro 66mm ZigZags 80a/83a
Tracker RTS/X 106mm Trucks with a combo of Yellow/Green/Blue Stims and a Red Khiro
Biltins
Khiro Wedge Kit
Sound good for a starting setup? I am also splitting the cost of 30 cones with a friend to start out. Thanks for the input!

Thanks Cat! Can't wait to skate with you and Marcus! I got a nice road for you in Sonoma that would fit a 100 cone course perfect, nice and smooth also! Anyone have any thoughts or advice for me?

Spend a lot of time skating with Cat. And Norski. And Tokle, even though he beats me at the races which is just wrong. Seriously, slalom is all about practice and learning how to tweak your setups by seeing what others are doing.

Yes indeed I will, she has helped me a lot with advice on setups and is a good knowledgeable source to go to in a time of need. Thanks Cat! But, thats what Im getting from Sk8Kings in coming weeks, cant wait! I'll post pictures when I get her!

Re: Help for New Slalomers! (please read)
I've never been interested in slalom but reading this thread has encouraged me to try it.I have a gravity 32 GS that I hope to set up with RTS/X 106 soon. Will this setup give me a decent slalom experience so I can see if I like it?
Currently ride:
S9 Bomb Hills
Gravity GS 32
Looking for:
GFH mini/Gravity Ben Wei/Tracker RTS/x 106 or 129

The wheelbase is a little long for tighter courses but it will definitely work. Make sure you have real slalom wheels on there.

Real slalom wheels as in zigzags? I have S9 nineballs right now, what are good slalom wheels that aren't too expensive?

I highly reccommend losing those cones..The first time you cut it close on one, your wheel will clip the squared base and you will get thrown down fast and hard !! Save up and get some actual slolam cones ! In the mean time use plastic cups or beer cans...something that if hit, will get tossed to the side as if it weren't there! Just lookin' out for ya!
Joe I has that effect on everyone!! Young or old, big or little, male or...oh never mind, you get the picture!

Re: Help for New Slalomers! (please read)
ive been thinking about getting into slaloming lately. it first started out with me seeing how fast i could go and still go between these squares on a parking garage floor with my longboard. before i spend any money on this can you tell about any slalom events in ohio? or if you live in ohio we could go skate.
Thanks,
Chris

Seriously, go, bring a chair and an umbrella. Find Kenny or Chris Bara. Tell them you want to volunteer. You'll learn plenty by watching. And if you are helping out, racers will be more apt to answer all your questions. Just be aware guys are racing for money, so you might want to wait until the end of the race for any deep conversations.
