One fifteens a bit spendy for just a deck. Not that I'm assuming money is an object.

actually it ain't that much, and that is a pretty sweet board. but lots of board builders customize decks to your weight. just try and make sure you have seen all there is to see before you make your final decision. And keep in mind that it is inevitable something you like better (weather or not it exists right now) is bound to pop up after you buy it.

That $150 gets you a complete. It really is a good deal. I have one myself, it's my go to slalomboard. A stiff deck is really responsive and is a good starting point. Then you can figure out if you need some flex or not.

Great idea, and there's no better deal in skateboarding out there. That $150 gets you a top-quality deck that's custom built for you by Richy Carrasco, tuned to your weight, the discipline you select and assembled with an attention to detail. You can pull this board out of the box and run cones, immediately. I had one sent out to Silverfish'es zzMarcus and he was blown away by exactly this "perfect tuning" as his board came out of the box.

Check out the posts here and on Sk8Kings site about the "Axe Army" to get an idea of how many active racers are on Axes. At every Silverfish/La Costa Boys Racing clinic we go to, there are always Axes available for people to try out (including Lynn Kramer's, mine, Malakai's & more) and always a new set of skaters with Axe I or II's they've bought after riding the loaner boards. I suggest you get yours with the ZigZag upgrade, too.

An Axe would be a great choice. As Erik said, every one comes completely customized to your weight, style and ability, by Richy Carrasco, one of the best slalom racers in the world. I'll be riding my Axe 1 and Axe 2 in the Dixie Cup this weekend...

I haven't ridden any of the Axes, but I think it might be better to get the Axe 1.
In my opinion I think it'd be better to start with a smaller board.
