Default Criddle:Pump & Disorderly slalom zine

    Criddle:Pump & Disorderly Zine continues.

    > I started Criddle Zine because I really dig slalom, and I feel that slalom racing
needs more coverage. I've skated most of my life and finding slalom has helped me
add one more thing to the "rad things about skating" list. After all, it's more
than the big races that are pushing the growth of slalom. It's the grass-roots efforts
that are growing this sport; the D.I.Y. attitude that has always defined skateboarding.
    > Go to any race, big or small, and you are going to find EVERY "style" of skater there,
from pool rippers, stair freaks, downhillers, longboarders, etc. Personally, I try
not to seperate one style from the next; skating IS skating. So taking from that
attitude, Criddle seemed like a good idea.
    > We made our first copies of Criddle:Pump & Disorderly and gave them to every racer
at The Dixie Cup. This was sort of an experiment, in order to give the zine away
as well as to get feedback from everyone. Racers from the first generation of slalom,
the hottest pros, and newbies gave us alot of feedback on our little zine, and that's
just what we wanted. We should have realized that the zine would go home with them,
all over the US, Canada, and Germany. The feedback we've gotten has been positive,
and we will continue to make our little fanzine.
    > Criddle is about slalom, yes, but more from the core skater perspective. This means
that we will include ANY slalom event[main, prime, outlaw], clinics, how-to's, tech,
history, and just about anything else we can think of that relates to slalom. We also
have CD reviews, live show reviews, and some band interviews. Skating and music go
    hand-in-hand, always has, always will.
    > We want to support all of the "crews" out there as well, as these are the groups that
are responsible for the growth of slalom. A short list would be: Road Kill Racing,
Kill City Racing, St Louis Daggers, Team Fatboy, DownHillBillies, Texas Outlaws,
COSS, GASS, La Costa Boys Racing, Black Leather Racing, and DC Outlaws. We plan
to cover each group out there, and find out what they are up to in their local community,
and how they are helping to spread the slalom gospel.
    > Our website is nearly finished, and the first issue will be available as a free download
once it's ready. The zine format will still the trusty hand-made, 2 staples and copy-machine
layout. Maybe that will change later, but for now it keeps the cost low and the content high.
The zine will be out quarterly, starting in January 07', and we will figure a per copy cost out
before then; as well as a possible subscription cost.
    > The last thing is this: The zine is only as good as it's contributers. That would be
where YOU come in. Send us your write-ups on races, clinics, how-to's, racer profiles.
Do an interview, tell us about your upcoming events, send art, pics, show off your vintage
gear, ANYTHING you want. Content that doesnt make it into an issue will make it onto the
website. As far as advertising goes, we want to keep ads on the website and not in the zine.
There will however, be a text list of slalom gear manufacturers in every issue, and that is a
no-charge deal. So, if you want to advertise on the site, email us about it.
    > Anyway, ideas and input are always welcome. We're going to keep making the zine because
it's a fun thing to do, and hopefully the slalom skaters will be into it as much as we are.

    Thanks for reading!

    Great idea!

I'm out here in the slalom wilderness and any new resources, other than the fish and the rest of the slalom related sites, are always welcome.

Good luck with it and I hope the rest of the community gets right behind you on this.

We will be setting a per-issue price soon ... in the next week or so. As far as a subscription goes, we hope to do that too, for a tad less than the cover, I'm sure.

Right now, I'm trying to get the website up and running [slacking], and get the layout
ready for January. If all goes as planned, the 1st "official" issue is gonna be hot.
