    Default Harbor 100 Results

    Here's your podium

    From memory:

    1. Mike Maysey
    2. Kevin Dunne
    3. Tim Kienitz
    4. Chris Chaput
    5. Floyd Reid
    6. Brent Kosick
    7. Steve Collins?
    8. David Carrasco
    9. Rene Carrasco
    10. Michael Kaelon
    11. Joe Iacovelli
J.J. Corning was fast, but suffered from too many cones downed. A couple of street skatin' kids (names?) jumped in and did extremely well for their first time. I love to see that.

Joe was just the second person to use Fyre Trucks in a race (I'm the third). Not only does Joe get the award for farthest distance travelled to race, he gets the special "Abec 11 Award" for getting 11th place on 11/11. Thanks to Gareth Roe and Sk8Kings for the Unlimited and the Axe decks. They're both on Fyre.

I scored a nice deck from Dave Hegstrom of Skaterbuilt who helped to sponsor the race. Thanks Dave. I'm stoked.

Special thanks to Steve Collins and his entire family for putting this together. It was a great venue to ease back into the scene for me. It's not too fast, but 100 cones is a lot of work. There's no way to just phone it in. Steve is donating some of the proceeds of the race to the San Pedro Skatepark Association, so there will be some good skate kharma coming from this race. Thanks for a great time everyone. See y'all next season.

No. I wanted something short, easy to pronounce, and easy to remember. Something that would work well in conjunction with Liquid Trucks (the bigger brother). I like the sound of "Liquid Fyre", "Fyre Trucks", "Rapid Fyre", "Fyre Line", "Racer X is on Fyre", "Fyre Two", "Fyre Away", etc. As long as no one says that these trucks are for "flamers", I'm happy.

Way to go Kevin and Tim! Looks like you had good competition out there. As usual, it looks like Chris and Dave were generous with the swag, and sounds like Steve did a great job setting things up.
Hope to make the next one,

...Hey Kevin, Dixie last weekend, Harbor 100 this weekend...so where's the race next weekend?? Way to go man!

Thanks Art- You tell me where it is, and I'll be there! I would have done it again today if the cones were still set up...

Steve- Thanks for the great race...that was so much fun. If you decide to make a series out of it, count me in. It was as fun hanging out with everybody as it was racing...Next time we'll have Richy, Art, Lynn, Clay, and more... Southern Ca. has a great crew and I'm stoked to be a part of it.

    Cool Re: Harbor 100 Results

FYI - My side of the secret handshake was posted on the most heavily trafficked skateboard slalom race signup website on the internet, six weeks in advance of the race. Your side of the secret handshake would have involved signing up there, which was open to everyone. No excuses next time y'all!

Isabelle, I really hope to see you there next time. You would have loved it.

    ... more later ...

100 cones is hard, both physically and mentally.

I didn't have a slalom board with me so Chaput lent me an Axe wit his new FYRE trucks. The fact that I was able to simply complete the race was testament to how well his trucks turn. I agree with his ideas of resonable trucks and cheap baseplates with different angles. Wouldn't it be nice to go to a race with 3 boards, 6 baseplates, and one set of hangers?

thanks and i got "the word" post-partum from one of the racers while i was checking my local surf spot..."WWHHAAAAt 100 coner" i said, but it's my own fault for having my head to deep in "slide fest" sand to look up and smell those slalom roses. i'll make it next time.
