    Default Banked slalom tips?

Just wondering if there was much difference in this (besides obviously on a bank) to regular slalom. Im thinkin about entering the lansdowne race, so I just wanted to know if you guys had any tips about it

    Thanks

Never actually did a real banked slalom run, I'm guessing though it'd be like carving a ditch/bank run but you got cones to charge around. Just give it try and wear pads/helmet,
have fun at it. It's all about the carve.

Usually, there's nothing in common except cones and the name "slalom" Park slalom is generally a test of park riding skills. With the exception of one race I've done, that had a series of cones on the flat in one spot, traditional slalom skills don't come into play. A good ditch/park skater can excel in park slalom first time out, but someone who only races slalom and never skates parks could be at a disadvantage, since its more about carving bowls and banks than wiggling through cones...

In bank slalom, you dont wiggle. Practice pumping trannies.

    Practice here
Just kidding, but I'm pretty sure this is the oldest snake run in the southern hemisphere.
Tony Alva skated here once, back in the day.

They've tried to rip it out a few times, it would be a tragedy if the ever did

The satellite image doesn't do it justice. the bowl at the end is about 4 meters deep
and the last corner has vert

When we get more organized we're going to run timed comp's down it

Steve, that looks killer. I've never been to Tasmania, but if you can organise a race there I might just have to make the trip.

To the original poster, I participated in my first banked slalom yesterday, and cos I have minimal skills at riding transition I sure learnt a lot. It took me about 10 runs before I figured out how to pump the transition effectively, and I ended up being almost competitive, or at least not completely outclassed. The main thing was that it was about the most fun I've ever had on a skateboard - can't wait to do it again.

There's some photos and a short video of it here:

    hey john, it's stone.

well as you know I was at the lansdowne banked slalom race, and took first in the "under 15 devision"

really all you need to do is get good at pumping transitions. I was already good at pumping the lansdowne snake run so it wasn't a whole lot different when they stuck some cones down.

by the way people, I'm new here, but not new to longboarding. some of you probably know me from the gravity forum
