Those trucks cost more than my quiver, and I have a Comet 49 and a Roe Foamy.

Re: pvd trucks
I've got an R2 (the black one on the bottom right) ......i've had friends with both R2's and R3's and asked them to sell them...without even suggesting a price.....and they wont sell......so yep, pricey....but they're so rare that price doesnt even matter.....
The good thing about PVD's is that it's the absolute most simple racing truck in the world...
As confusing as it looks, it comes apart for cleaning easily and it's design is flawless and once you have it set like you want it, there's very little tuning needed ... ever
There is no slop anywhere....and the machining is perfect....which is probably why they are what they are...
Then you get down to quantity........let me know if i'm wrong, but from what i understand, there were less than 100 pair made.......and some people just put them on the shelf
Personally, I bolted mine on and ride the living sh!t out of it

Re: pvd trucks
bara, can you get them to be REALLY dead?

Re: pvd trucks
Joe Iacoveli had a Fatboy deck set up with PVD's and Pink Gumballs... that thing was a cruising machine. I was pumping it uphill and it was effortless. I've never got to tweak the trucks or take them apart or anything, but just riding them is awesome.

Re: pvd trucks
never really dead dead....i put in a 94a bushing, cranked them down as much as they can be, and i could barely move it with my hand...but when you get on the board, they'll still turn...it's odd geometry....Fadell convinced me to take it off my GS board and go back to an Indy offset....

Now that's interesting. I've always thought they looked really complicated. I've never actually seen one so I'm only going by the pictures but it's always confused me. Not that that's a big thing to do.
Obviously they are TOTALLY adjustable but I figured that came with a price of being complicated. Thanks for filling me in on that.

Re: pvd trucks
They do look confusing...but the work like this:
You find where on the baseplate you want it mounted. It can go in a few different spots...but with most boards these days having multiple wheelbase options, it's pretty much irrelevant, so you just pick your spot. You screw in the angle plates you want. You can choose all kinds of angles from 20 degrees to 50 degrees, in 5 degree increments.....once you figure out what you like, you keep it.......
As for the bushing, there's only one...and it's square and drops in the top, then you screw the cap over it...there's a small plate under the cap that you can tighten or loosen with those small threaded screws you see in the top of those pictures in the link, to smash the bushing down a little more, or ease up on it, to dial it in when you want.
And that's about it.
You can get two widths of axles to switch from a tighter truck to a wider one...and you have to use PVD risers since the baseplate is a different size...
But it's nowhere near as complex as a Radikal.....there's no kingpin....There's no need for wedging...and there's no pivot cup, it all rides on that one square bushing...nothing else like it in the world.
if you want, i could take it apart sometime and post up pics of how it works...

Is is it something like a torsion truck? That's what I'm getting a mental picture of.

Yeah that would be great. I'm in no hurry but sometime when you've got it a part it would be very helpful to see it.

Re: pvd trucks
I love them .. All I have is one now.. but thety work soo much nicer as a rear truck then front..So I'm good with a single and a few bucks richer for selling the other.

i thought these worked like a torsion truck so i assumed they would be great as a front.
why do you use them as a rear ogre? and any chance you could take a few pictures to show how it works? i have been staring at these for a while and can't figure out how these work, and the 1 bushing system threw everything off haha.

Re: pvd trucks
Chris (Bara) explained them pretty well. No, they are not a Torsion style, the rectangular bushing is placed in the geart of the truck and functions similarly as a standard truck's bushing. The traction is out right crazy, but they aren't real quick turning, hence the rear preference
