Well I'm not incredibly gay . Our high school had them last year. I had the idea then to just horde (sp?) as many of them as I could, but that didn't work out, I only got like five before they ran out and nobody would give me theirs. I did a search online for them, found a bunch, but they all had like 250 ct minimums. I finally came across these. My buddy and I are gonna order like 50-100 and start up a slalom scene with some friday night things in the NoVA area. If you REALLY wanted too, you could get your crew's name imprinted for only like $1.49 a piece.

i know things have gotten uptight and harsh on the 'fish recently, but if you notice, i made only one post with regards to it.
i was just messin, and figured you'd have a good reason. it was half curiosity. if you notice, i commeded you for your good adaptation of a different product. im not out to make enemies, or pick fights.

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
Great find, thanks.
I'm looking forward to a report on how well they work, i.e. are they heavy enough to stay in place in a mild wind, do they plink away easily, do they buckle easily, etc.
Re: the homophobic subtext that dropped in to the thread, WTF?

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
Well, they have BASES (not a good thing) and they are hard plastic (another thing that's not good.)
If someone has them all ove the dorm room, I'd take 10 or 15 out in a parking lot and bounce into a few before investing any money in a bunch.
3DM cones work well for several reasons: heavy enought to stay put, light enough to bounce away, just the right amount of compression so as to not crack when run over but hard enough not roll up under your wheels and the right size.
In 30+ years of slaloming the only thing I've ever seen that compares to 3DM cones are Poni Cones from the '70s.
Maybe you've found a less-expensive alternative (I agree 3DMs are very expensive) but skte through them, hit a few and see how they behave.
Just because you can take a naked picture of yourself doesn't necessarily mean you should.

Why is 3dm the only place manufacturing quality cones? Come on chaput can't you come out with some cones too just to make things interesting and more neon green in the slalom scene?

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
My old high school assistant swim coach was also the guy in charge of all the school activities. At the end of one year, he had a bunch left over and let us take two full boxes of them. They work great, but they're also very brittle. Expect to lose one or two whenever you use them.
I'm a man...I can change...if I have to...I guess.

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
i have a set of these, they are more then adequate. They will crack in cold and just cool weather, otherwise they are fine. I've had an incident where one locked up on my wheel, no accidents or injury, merely skidding. However, I have had the same problem from 3dm's so who's to say they are truly inferior.
They are very light, and will lift up in strong winds.
Presented with the choice between these and 3dm/seismic cones I'd take the latter, but for the price these are very decent for those wanting to learn. However, for a race they would be unnaceptable.

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
I have a set of like 20 or so. They are light and suck in the wind. I would rather get the real cones. They are heavy and stay in place. And dont break like the cheer cones.

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
$1.49 at daddiesboardshop.com, orders over $65 = free shipping.
Saving 50 cents per cone for something thats likely not regulation size and might shatter or crumple and send you flyin' just isn't worth it for me. Even at 50 cones that's only $25 savings, which is at least 1/20th the cost of a trip to the E.R. to fix your broken bones from taking a slam "testing" a real cone substitute. I'm not willing to go 25mph straight into these cheerleader phones over and over, from all different angles to test whether they pop out of the way or not. I like my dollars to go toward our industry, and if that's only Gesmer for now, I reward his foresight. A one time investment in real cones lasts a long time, and if you have a few buddies and each gets 25 cones, you've got enough to hold a full blown race. For practice?...maybe, but we've never held a race with non-regulation cones.

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
Obviously not a raceday solution. If you read the topic title, it's "for this cheap" and there's ones without a base too. This is just a cheap solution to not buying 3dms which are almost $2 a piece. We might pony up and buy them I don't know. Just a thought, just a thought.
(haha pony)

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
Well we're going for the 3dm's after all. From daddies. It's too unreasonable otherwise with $25 shipping from 3dm. Oh and $25 savings is a lot. But this time quality won out, the difference between the two was just too great.

Re: I DARE you to get nicer cones for this cheap...
I bought a batch of those cheercones to test out, so that we could buy a big load of them and supply cones on the cheap to everyone if they were any good. They are "pretty good" and a very viable alternative to the better-made 3dm/Turner cones. The cheercones are not as durable...they will crack from hard hits. They plink away pretty well, but are lighter than 3dm's and will blow away in a good wind before the 3dm's do. The lip on the edge alarmed me at first, but hasn't resulted in any "Sticks" or whatnot...I think my toe or the board edge is what I tend to hit cones with.
