Re: TS truck options
I have been runnung Splitfire Pros in front and rear of my Pavel roadster...107mm 13 degree wedge front, 50degree plate... rear 50 degree plate flat...I can get it thru Colorado Tight courses no problem...
I have also been running a ConeKiller TS with a Split pro 90mm 15 degree front wedge (90mm) and a gen 3 split 90mm on a 5 degree de wedge...
but I gave that deck to my son..My custom Pavel supertight rig is somewhere between Dueseldorf and here...trucks will go on it in the same formation
stop typing...go skate a Pavel

Re: TS truck options
This brings up an interesting point. There just isn't really any lower end TS trucks. There are Bennetts, Racetracks, Seismics, Indy's, etc for hybrid and GS, but for tight, what can you use? Sure people try to use an RTX wedged like its going out of style, but that just really does't cut it. It's too big.
i was forntunate enough to get a cut down Gus for tight that was cheap, but most people can't get a decent entry level TS truck for a reasonable amount.
i think if Bennett or Tracker made a smaller truck, but still around that price range, the truck would sell very well and people would get an option of a cheaper TS truck.
I emailed Bennett, and they said they are considering making a smaller vector. I think that would be perfect for this applicaton. or maybe a 90mm RTX?
is this true, or am i making this entire thing up.
maybe others can successfully run an RTX or Bennett for tight, but i sure havne't had any luck with it.

For TS and my learning period (not that it ever ends), I've been running O.G. Bennett Pro's with ACS baseplates scored off of ebay and they've worked just fine. That's why I'm so stoked about the Mods, with the correct baseplates, as well as the upgrades. The old Highjackers would be killah!!! Super narrow and turny! O.G. Bennetts got pretty expensive on the 'bay for awhile, but prices may go down now that the reissues are out.

Now I think the offest mods are sick, I really want one. But I'm just a liit confused about what is different on the front mod to make it 100 bucks?

it starts at $40, then as far as i know they put in new axles, and significantly mill down the hanger. is it worth another $60 for that? maybe. its up to you i guess.

Re: TS truck options
Entry level TS.
Tracker Midtracks at 85mm.
Cheap and functional?
RT/s baseplate for the front one.

Re: TS truck options
cheap and very functional is the Indy mod. for $1.98 in parts, and $4.00 for JB-Weld,
the Indy is a hot front truck. it takes minutes to replace the kingpin, and anyone can do it.
in my opinion, the only thing i didnt like about the mid-tarck, was getting wheel-bite at the
baseplate.....not good. anyway, as a "newbie" i like the setup i have right now. split 90mm
rear, modified Indy front.

Re: TS truck options
Is the midtrack really any better than the RTX 106mm?
at 85mm, it is deffinately smaller, but it also has the bent pivot, which i would think would cancel out the shorter hanger width. Also, wouldn't the midtrack lean a lot, but not turn very much?
maybe i am thinking about this in the wrong way

Re: TS truck options
The Midtracks are very, very tippy... I found them easy to pump in the flats, but overall the board just felt weird and I couldn't really get much speed out of pumping them. I usually skate an Indy 101 or a Rad in front for tight.

Re: TS truck options
Save your pennies and buy the Rad... the proof is in the riding. Had the "experience" last week that sealed the deal (at least for me). Granted, I do still suck but got a chance to compare my setup (as dialed as best I could Splitfire, which I felt "worked") vs. a Radikal set up for someone else and the difference was eye opening. I could turn the Split enough, but I was still working hard to just make the cones - forget about checking speed, or actually "deciding" whether I needed to pump or not. With the Rad, it actually felt like there was more time (even though I was moving faster); I could check my speed, adjust my line, pump (or not) and I got through a set of cones that I was splattering all over the place with my own setup. I bought one because I had the cash available and it was sitting at home on another board - I won't make that mistake again. May seem hard to justify the extra $30-$40 over another premium front (especially the $150 over an RTX), but the difference may be worth it. If you are "trying" or "thinking" about taking up slalom, go with a "tweaked" RTX (or Bennett, or similar); if it's more than that, save up (sell some plasma, mow some lawns, sell the xbox...) and buy a Rad.

send keith hollien an email, i think he said he had some cheaper radikals because they are powder coated and not milled.

Re: TS truck options
Now why would you say a RTS base plate and not an RTX base plate for a front truck.. I have both as well as some Mid's. I also have a NOS Tracker small piviot base plate.. Not sure what to do with..
thanks Ric

Re: TS truck options
The RT/s base allow for more movement than the stock Midtrack base plate with the built in bottom cup. Stock baseplate in back with a khiro yellow bottom and green superball top then you can go soft barrells top and bottom in front with the RT/s baseplate.
