    Default Multipurpose Slalom/mini

    Hello,

This summer I'm planning on visiting my grandpa and he offered to help me build a skateboard. He doesn't skate, he just likes to build things. I know to use Baltic Birch and the basic of board building.

    Now the question-

Would it be possible for me to build a board suitable for just cruising around and slalom? I thought maybe using a foam kicktail on the deck. (helpful for cruising and slalom I hear) I'm thinking that a length of about 30 inches would work for my application.

    Thoughts?

    No. That is quite impossible.

    ...or is it?

yeah dude, just pick a shape you like, check out some GFH boards like the pug and pigme for ideas. You don't really need a kicktail, and I'm really not a fan of the foam wedges. You could probably press a small kick into the board if you want.

Pick a fun shape and go nuts.
    Me fail English? That\'s unpossible!

    Thanks man,

I was thinking about using a modified GFH Dead Board shape but I didn't think it would work. I might do that.

    Any one else?

yeah, sure. 30 inches will work fine. try drilling 2 wheelbases, like 15 inches and then another at 18-19 inches. drill holes for the front trucks close to the nose, then 2 sets of
bolt holes for the back trucks. use the shorter wheelbase for "cruising/regular riding" and then the longer one for slalom.

i just ordered a c-block foam kit from sk8kings to add a tail and some concave to my board. hasnt come yet so i cant tell ya how it works. cheap though like 12.95

if you go to roeslalom.com they have quite a few different shapes they offer. maybe give ya some more ideas.

Cool I'll check that out. What does a C-block kit do? I've seen them, I'm just not sure why I would want one.

they let you add asymmetrical concave without the board flexing funny...
hell the let you add concave to your sock drawer

go for 19" that's plenty short enough IMO.

30'' is a good length for a PD- pedestrian slalom. just somethin to mess around town with.get some tracker's and some 60-65mm wheels. personally i dig the gummy wheels 74a-80a. As for a shape just find somethin u dig. and like a previous poster had said, do multiple wheel bases. give u some options when ur findin out what feels the best for you.
When it comes to concave those pps foam kits work wonders for concave and custom kick setups.

The link JoeandNick posted is really all you need to know, when buildin a beginner slalom.
