MEGA........cones.............?

i was in need of some slalom cones so i hopped in my car and drove to party city, down the road about 3 miles from my house, and low and behold, mini megaphones, 99 cents.

grabbed 50 of them and now im in the process of removing the "shout" stickers that come on them, and cleaning them up a bit

these things are just as good as any slalom cones that you can buy online, cost 30% less, you dont have to pay shipping, and you can most likely get them close by

not to mention that they come in a variety of colors, i picked up the blue ones for a nice contrast from the red, green, white and orange that you normally see....or for you frootbooters, feel free to get a "rainbow" of color....

A bunch of us used them when slalom restarted. They can shatter. They can get stuck on a wheel, but so can regular cones. Just be careful, they'll be fine.

Yeah, those are a great deal and they work great, but they will eventually crack from hard punts and then break. Before they do, they're a great alternative to the more expensive ones, for sure!

im just getting into it and figured that it would be a cheap way to start, i really want some of the green ones off of geoskate, but they arent availible, plus i wanted to get some practice in before i go help at the buckeye, so i dont look like a complete n00b....lol

they were easy to get, cheaper than the ones online, plus i figured that they would get pretty beat up, so i would wait until i got a little better before i get a set of nice new shinny ones

You done good. They will work great and are going to be perfect for fun/jam sessions. The blue color isn't the best at dusk, but that won't matter most of the time.

They are okay for awhile. Keep a couple of rolls of clear packing tape handy. When uoiy hit them they will crack and put the tape on them right away. It will stop the crack from spreading.

I like to then turn the cone the other was and crack it on the other side. EH! The tape will actually strenthen then up a bit as well. In the very, very cold they will shatter beyond repair.

If you cut the bottom out and keep them good shape you can use them as travel cones (markers) for course setting and such. In 2002 I took mine to San Fran for some practice before the FCR opener. Last week Brad and I used them to preset the two courses prior to the Dovercourt Open. This way cars can go by without much problem.

the funny thing about that, is that they are slightly translucent, and i could easily install glow sticks inside of them for a fun night jam....lol

I did that with some candy-translucent red ones we had at campus, but my wife caught me after I cracked the 6th glow stick and put a stop to it. Darn things are kinda pricey... anyway, it wasn't super dark where we were and it was only okay. However... a darkened parking garage with those blue cones would be rad.

They blow away easy during windy says. Other than that, they are good for getting started on. About the breakage issue, just dont hit any.

Truth. I bought cheer cones last year when I started off slalom skating, and now I wish I had just bought 3dm/seismic cones in the first place.
