Slalom-Cross: Interested?
Thinking of putting on a Slalom-Cross event next March. This would be in North Carolina, in the Chapel Hill area. We are looking at building banks and moguls for the course. I wanted to see what the interest was in an event like this. If enough people show the interest then we will make it happen for sure. The dates we are looking at are March 21-22nd
The "loose" plan right now is to have a Friday night dual-slalom race, and then do the SCX on Saturday, allowing for travel back home. Anyway, more info to come. Questions can be posted here, or email me:

BANKS? MOGULS? That sounds totally rad. I am hoping more people start throwing SlalomX stuff, it really is the future.
Man I wish I could do that. Sadly I will only get one trip to NC this year and its tied up for the dixie.

Sounds cool! Please make sure to separate professionals from us working class stiffs. One of the reasons I decided to decline Kona. Hope to sk8 Dixie.8)

MR. Surly Is this going to be run what you brung? I have a 2007 Honda CRF250R I was thinking about using that for my NEW GS board.
Is this going to be OK??? I will not put race gas in for that day it may not be fair using avgas.....
OK You know I would love to see that and that I've been talking about it for some time, let me know if I can help.

Re: Slalom-Cross: Interested?
I think the slalomX or boarderX is a killer idea. It will be raced as a provisional at the IGSA Nor Ams this year, too! That one's in November.

Only 5 wheels or less right?

Re: Slalom-Cross: Interested?
The rules I've seen disallow skyhooks, but leave the boards as run what ya brung...I guess if it lean steers and you can get it through the course faster...boom, baby! 8) Most of the boards used in the "Boarder X" in SoCal are setup like park boards.

Re: Slalom-Cross: Interested?
Evan has the right idea! Could I get a tow in? How about an exskate with sky hooks and football pads; RollerBall James Cann style, Johnathan, Johnathan, Johnathan!!! Best idea since the free Criddle download Surley!

Re: Slalom-Cross: Interested?
Rollerball could sell. I think some modernization off the quad skates and it's about ready to go.

Re: Slalom-Cross: Interested?
I"m down with slalom cross or boardercross. March would be perfect for me too. I could probably bring some of the crew. I'm helping to host our 1st slalom jam in our area Aug 1st. What would you use for banks and moguls. I thought of short board launch ramps or maybe a few ramp box combos, but I'd never find enough of them. Banks would be sweet.

Re: Slalom-Cross: Interested?
OK, I have found a few videos of boarder-cross or slalom-cross. Here's one that I like a lot. I don't think we'll have the budget that these guys had, but you'll get the general idea.
It's only the first part of this video.

That looks like a heck of a lot of fun. It seems like it needs more cones though besides the obstacles.
That wavey ramp was interesting to watch, one of the guys did a massive boneless off the first "wave".

I'm down
