pumping
Hey you people that know how to pump do you think this dude is pumping right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xINGewrTmSE cause personally i think that is so wrong in so many ways that looks like mini carves and if you just wanna pump to pick up alot of speed you will slide out and very good chance of totally eating it. And carving slows you down not picks up speed. I believe that pumping involves tighter turns than this crap that he's trying to pull. And you're supposed to have wide wheels for more traction but even if you do have a lot of traction it doesnt mean you cant slide out. So tell me what you think of this guy pumping i say he sucks. And submit comments about how to pump correctly

Re: pumping
Lol the guy who made that video posts here, this might hurt his feelings a tad
Well I'm in no way dissing him or challenging whether or not he can pump (I'm sure if he made a video about it then he can). The problem is though that when he pumps he's not going any further than he woldhave gone with the same amount of pushing. Plus he's on a slope which makes everything more complicated, so youc an't show the basics of pumping.
If you're wondering how to pump, just watch a video of somebody doing it. Go to www.pavedwave.com. Get some super soft bushings. And go for it. If your board is capable, you should figure it out in no time. Just remember to have some speed built up before you try it.
At first when I tried pumping, it wouldn't be enough to propel me, just prolong the next time I needed to push. Then I got to the point where I could stay at a certain speed. Then later you'll realize you can actually accelerate with pumping. Once you've got it, you can experiment and create your own different pumping "gears." I've got about three, and they work the same way as gears on a bike are car. The lowest: I'm low with my knees bent, leaning forward, pushing out fast tight turns with all the work in my legs. The highest: feet closer together, standing more erect, and swinging my whole body into wide, slower turns.
Have fun.

Re: pumping
the little arguments on youtube were rediculous, pains me to see that people still act like little kids about something like this. Anyway, pavedwave.org is definitely the place to go. The dude is a hardcore LDP veteran with more info about gear and technique on his site than you'll ever need. Vulgar's video is good for seeing when to "weight" and "unweight" especially when he slows it down. I'd wish people would argue less about a technique and just learn and work it out on a longboard...

Now that I check the comments on that vid I see the original poster made this whole thread so that he could prove that he was right in initially dissing the vid. Here's his initial arguemtn
"that doesnt even look like your gettin any speed at all, all ur doing mini CARVES. CARVING SLOWS YOU DOWN GENIUS"
Wow, I take back the help I offered.

Wait, do you know how to pump or not? Here you imply that you do by saying "my way" when talking about how to pump, but in your first post you ask how to. Are you just trying to tell us that VulgarDisplayCFH doesn't know how to pump? If you are, then this is a stupid thread and you are a douche.
P.S. In your original post, you said that you need to do tight turns to pump, and that you need really grippy wheels. You can do long, drawn out pumps, and you can pump with narrower, less grippy wheels. You can however put more power into your pump if you have a lot of grip.

Pretty much what uncle Al said. At first I thought you were asking for help with pumping. Now I realize that the whole point of this thread was that so you could try to dis VulgarDisplay. He obviously knows how to pump, you obviously don't, so why do you feel that you have more knowledge in the area than he.

pwn.
I tried pumping on someone else's board (someone who weighs ~50lbs less than I do) and I got wheelbite+ate ####.
You have to feel it...

Re: pumping
I think he's planning on making another, better pumping video. Cut him some slack, especially if you haven't mastered pumping yourself. It's a very tricky skill to develop, and takes both trial and error, and a lot of practice. If you want to see some really good pumping, you should check out some slalom vids, or vids Dan Gesmer (who can pump backwards).

Re: pumping
^^^ correct. Camera is getting fixed as we speak freaking cassette head 'needs cleaning' Pfff. Will get it up soon. I posted that a while ago and have learned a lot more. That was a one take job so it was all improvised and anyone who has seen my video knows that I am horrible at improv. Anyway this guy is an asshat and to be honest I'm suprised he had the balls to post up on here. HA.
This thread is not of the rahness, let it die.

tight trucks are like little boobs, which are fine if youre into them, but too small of boob and you end up with non turning trucks, loose trucks save lives thing.
loose trucks are like big boobs, great as long as you have enough rebound in your bushing/firmness in the boob.
and trucks with worn out broken down bushings are like grandma boobs/fried eggs hangin on a nail situation which is never good.
