    Default La Costa Open Update...

After months of preparation the City of Carlsbad has decided not grant us a permit for El Fuerte Street. Because of this, the La Costa Open will now be held at the legendary Pump Station, in the Poway area of San Diego. For those of you who have not skated Pump Station, it is a great hill, with a great surface and a somewhat isolated location. Even though this will be an outlaw race, there is very little chance of any problem. We have held many races and clinics on this hill and have never had a problem with cancellation or closure. The La Costa Open will still be a two day race: Single lane Giant Slalom on Saturday and Dual Lane Tight Slalom on Sunday. Since there are fewer expenses involved in holding a race at Pump Station, the entry fee has been reduced to $50 and nearly all of that will go to the prize purse. We also expect to have a good amount of product/prizes for the schwag pile! We are well aware that, because it is an outlaw race, we will probably no longer be able to have Main event status, but we still expect to have a good number of racers and a high level of competition. We are still lobbying for Main status.
Your $50 entry fee can be sent via paypalto: Lynnibob@sbcglobal.net Send T-shirt size with entry! More info, such as Hotel/Motel deals, etc., will be posted as soon as we have it...check back here, or email us with any questions. You can also call Kevin at 760 277 8570 for additional info.

Cool. I'll be there, not sure if I will enter or not yet. 50 bucks is kind of alot when I know what kind of competition I am running against.

Thumbs up Re: La Costa Open Update...

Consider the Texas Outlaws to be there. After all it is an Outlaw event. Sorry about you bros losing your Main Status. But I still supports Grass Roots Slalom. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws/Pavel Flow
I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world.. without you. A world without rules or controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible.

I would love to hit this contest up. As an East Coaster I've heard a lot about Pump Station, if I can scrape plane fare together I'm so down.

Outlaw is where it's at, skate at your own risk, screw the rest of the bullshit. Whatever we all know the ISSA is only getting it's stuff together anyway- I thought the Lacosta boys had been doing this stuff since the 70s. Who goes to a race just because of the points anyway?

"who goes to a race for the points?"

I DO KARL lol i do..... which part of the hill will you run the tight on? top or bottom? can i suggest that we do a best time down the hill race? sort of like the DHB dh where you just get a timed straight line bomb down the hill, its a really safe hill for that sort of thing and would be a great intro to a lot of people that arent used to going that fast on a dh board. and for those are used to it, it will be fun as hell with the gap in the middle
