This is the first of the production decks featuring the topside open slot - several of the earlier iterations go back to the first of the year and are now kicking around out there.
This is the only one that will feature the cherry veneer over the foam core.
The primary spec's are ~ 8 7/8" X 32" with ~ 5/8" of continuous concave (the track frees the design from the flat for the truck base plates) and ~ 1" of progressive rocker - belly in the front - for a full pocket. The weight comes in a bit over 2 lbs.
The tracks for these models are asymmetrically split with the majority of range reserved for the rear of the deck.
The nominal inside bolt hole spacing adjustment is ~ 17 1/2" to ~ 22 1/2" with the ability to configure a bit more or less range given the plate orientation.
The plates themselves are an intermediate step to couple legacy truck hardware to the decks.
The core of the deck uses a micro box core assembly. This is why the deck looks like a vlam - it is. For now, it's called the "Marva" core. The core blank is sliced and glass/composite material is woven under/over the sections. When the top and bottom fabric is bonded, subsection box beams are created. The subsection core itself is now being worked on to bias the flexibility toward more spring or stiffness depending on the desired outcome.
The next few development stages feature the following:
- drop through plates that mount the truck (traditional and Randy) to the deck with no additional riser spacing. As I type this, the plates are on the bench downstairs ready to be set up for riding this weekend.
- the "enhanced" Randy Two Bolt Main base plate replacement Yup replacement. No plates, just plug the sucker straight in the track and put a Randy (or any similar style) hanger in it. This will be the first full evolution upgrade on the path to freeing the boards from legacy hardware. The Al "billets", that's right, I said billets, big honking chunks of refined bauxite ore, are sitting on the bench waiting to be milled. Well no, not really billets, just stock sectioned alloy, wanted to throw a little snark. But the Al alloy blanks are next to the baby mill which has finally been brought up to snuff after being out of commission for the better part of eighteen months while I dicked around with other stuff. Oh, the enhanced Randy's (need a catchy name) also have a X.xx upgrade design path that features milling the hanger to improve the range of motion (no more Randy Stop) and use newer bushings but more on that later. Next few months before those surface for your viewing pleasure unless someone leaks it at which point a public evisceration may be put up on YouTube.
- A full on X.xx + 1 truck upgrade that rolls up the work that has been done to revise the truck design which plugs directly into existing Two Bolt Main decks. Plates will be built to make the new trucks backward compatible with legacy traditional four bolt mounting decks. Next year after the move, finally leaving Richmond and it cannot come to soon.
All plates, hardware and accessories are fully compatible. In fact, the notion of a literal swap meet is kicking around where deck owners and show up and try out each others configs on different decks. Pretty sweet.
Regardless, back to the slalom decks themselves:
A batch of the 32" decks are being worked up in both pointed (slalom) and a slightly fuller rounded nose (bowl/tech/all around) styles from which the # 2 slalom is already reserved.
From here on out, all decks will be sold only after they are finished.
However, a first right of refusal reserve list will be maintained. As each deck is completed, a PM/email will be sent. After a few days, the responses will be reviewed and the responder closest to the top of the list will get it. The list will be maintained for the next boards in the series until sold out.
If you are interested, PM me and I'll add your name to the list for Slalom #'s 3, 4 and 5 which will likely clear in the next month or so based on my other workload.
The price for those decks will be $215 delivered in the lower 48. The shipment will include the deck, two mounting plates of your choosing, hardware and a toe stop.
Any Hawaii/Alaska/overseas shipments will be more based directly on the shipping cost.
Last but not least; Thank You to all of my SilverFishLongboarding Friends that have offered up encouragement and support over the years. I do much of this to satisfy myself but you have made it all very worth-while.
Brian

That deck looks very cone worthy. It's been fun watching this thing progress and I have nothing but respect for your handy work. Now I's gots to get one.
Beautiful work and I love the track idea. A bunch of us over here were saying that was the next step...It makes such perfect sense - Well executed!
Martin.
Thank you all, Martin - been underway for a while and it seems to be working out.
Now the hard part, humping to crank out as many as can be made.
