TrakMate timer (adapted from slot car racing.) $200
spool of cable to connect top and bottom of the courses (usually 1000 feet) $100
TapeSwitch switches for start and finish line (four needed for dual racing) $25 each
Basic setup is about $350 for a single lane and $400 for duals.
It can go up from there with more exotic cabling, infrared beam switches for start and finish, computer interfaces (needing a lap top) and other goodies.
Dan at TrakMate sells a system COMPLETE with everything including the infrared option for $750.00 (no computer.)
There are also various smaller "practice" timers that cost in the $200 to $250 range but I don't know their specifics.
I was actually thinking wireless cause my dad is a networking manager and he knows how to do some crazy computer stuff with antenni. Also where could I buy the switch tape?
