Default thoughts on the sk8kings maximus or PPS super g?

dear princes of pump:

i have a spare set of grizzlies (52/40) and some 69mm race wheels, and kinda want to build myself a ditch-inspired LDP board. i know PPS makes a number of ditch boards, but the super-g looks pretty amazing to me. the only "ditch" board i have experience on is the pavel DHB ditch board...how do the sk8kings maximus and PPS feel compared to that board...as far as board feel, concave, weight, pumpability, etc.

also, i'd be open to other suggestions for similar boards

thank you kindly, sirs

Another option for you is to check out Pressure Drop Longboards. They make a GS-36 with multiple wheelbases. It has a deep tub concave, super stiff, and you can pump for days on it. The price is also in the same range as the Sk8kings maximus and PPS decks. It is what I use as my ditch board. That's what I got for ya since I don't have experience with either the PPS or Sk8kings decks.

Buck,

I've got an Axe III which is two inches shorter, 1/4 in narrower. It's got a nice concave up front but flattens out towards the rear. I just redrilled mine for the "bonus" redrill that is automatically included in the Maximus. Keep your eyes out here for an upcoming tutorial.

It's a quality board, but I can't compare it to the Pavel or the PPS. BTW, the PPS site says the Super G is out of stock.

The PPS 36' Super G is a classic shape that's no stranger to the podium, at least three people were on it at the farm on saturday. I've been on this board since 06. As far as speed is concerned the fastest I ever took the thing was 45 on Big View in TX. Very stable at speed for a slalom board. It's lightweight and feels great for LDP, I was doing 3 miles a day comfortably on it this summer.

The Axes are also high quality, Richy just won the US Nationals GS on the Maximus.

on the maximus, can you have a functional kicktail? i know on european-style slalom boards, the rear trucks are mounted on the kicktail...but the max isn't like that, is it?

also, how would the grizzlies that i have work on the max? on top of that, i'm curious as to the wedging...would the 52/40 plates be enough, or would i still want to run some extra risers?

The way I read the Max on line doc, it's drilled both "on the kick" for racing, and "infront" of the kick (They are calling it a 'bonus' drilling) as well for more tranny style.

i'm pretty stoked on this board...after seeing the upgrades that sk8kigns can do; including gripping the board, and mouting some wedges right away.

as soon as i get money, i want this board!
