Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
My good Slalom Skaters, I refer you to this thread:
Antrim, Southern NH, Slalom Sundays
- to announce our little, informal slalom sessions in Antrim NH, I try to do them every Sunday at noon.
I am pretty much new at this and the hill is not long or spectacular, so it's worth a trip if you are nearby-ish and want to try out slalom. If you are nearby-ish and know more than me about this I could surely use your expertise, so don't feel shy about showing up and telling me what we're doing wrong.
I hope you'll tolerate the occasional bump in this forum, I promise to use 10 characters or more.

I have a couple extra slalom boards, a few odd "longboards" and a pile of bushings. While it's all decent, none of it is my sacred gear, it's for sharing. I keep a stash on hand to try to get the kids hooked.
Heh heh.
Don't be shy about showing up with nothing but attitude..

Re: Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
Tomorrow?
Maybe, ummm...
I'm going skating somewhere, cones or no cones, if and when it's dry enough.
Maybe a bomb/slide fest.
I dunno.
Slalom comes first, if anyone is up to it.
If so, get in touch.

Re: Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
Why LOOK, it's 2009 already. Yeah, already half gone. Anyhow, we skate every Sunday at least, set a GS/HS slalom course and several beginner runs, and generally encourage anyone to participate. Several semi-private, clean hills to choose from.
I have boards to try, helmets to lend, worldly advice to repeat as if it were my own...
Anyone interested should PM me and/or BUMP this too.
Let's SKATE, let's push this, the 2009 CanAm happens HERE in September!

Re: Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
Sunday 5/31
We set some courses on a rather wimpy hill, skated a good while then picked up our cones after a few light showers dotted the road and thunder / lightning threatened.
Sun came out right away so we drove, bombed a backroad in Hancock many times, great diversion, made a pretty big day of it.
Got rained on moderately on our last walk up the hill, then it rained a good roadsoaker on the way home. Ha, we win!
Bigger hill next time... that's the report!
'Til next Sunday!

Re: Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
Even wimpier hill tomorrow - but I'll put the ramp on it for starting practice. Regular Sunday skate NOT on, we're going to the thing in MA.

Re: Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
SUNDAY, 6/28. Game On. From this far out the weather looks like it might cooperate. Slalom training sessions continue at the end of Pierce Lake Road in Antrim. We meet at the skatepark on Jameson Ave and leave there by 11. I'll move a ramp if I can, and we'll set up several courses. Beginner, GS / HS, and a straight line TS.
Should we make this one a cookout too? Message / email me, let me know if you're coming.

Re: Antrim NH, Slalom Fun on Sundays
Well, look at this, 2010 - who knew this date would ever come without living through a few episodes of Planet of the Apes?
Anyway, a fresh, new skating season just about to start. The Statue of Liberty is still standing and...
Slalom skating sessions, just about every Sunday here in Antrim, NH are STILL GOING ON!
If you want to be put in the email list, let me know via PM. If you have done that and still don't get emails about our practice/outlaw days, send me a WTF note, maybe include a phone number or request mine.
We're hoping to get a New England race series started this year, so if you have a place to skate, an interest in it, a business or sponsor to suggest - throw that my way too! We have help available to try to get some new events off the ground.
First timers, old timers, families, and VERY serious competitors all mix it up pretty well at our Sunday Skates. I have some slalom boards and safety gear people can borrow to try this out (and hopefully get hooked).
If you think you might like to try this, or just hop on board to skate the courses and hone your skills, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Call me Dave. Everyone calls me Dave.
