I've never tried slalom before and it looks like a blast. I've got a slalomish set up, but I'm not sure if my board is really slalom worthy or not, I usually just cruise around and do oldschool shiz with it, sometimes rip it in a park/pool but with a diff set up. I've never tried wedging or dewedging either...but I understand the concept.
Bruce Logan 30"
Bennett 4.3 front truck
Tracker RT-S rear truck
62mm 81a red Bennett Alligators
Thanks in advance guys!

I've got that exact setup on the Logan except I ran 75mm Avila's for a while and now some Sector9 race 70mm 80a's. I put it together while waiting for my Subsonic Saint to show up. I wedge it about 10 degree front and 5 degree back, and it is a lot of fun. I am no slalomer, I just started, but some of the slalom guys that have tried it like it as a pumper - me too. As a wise man (Dave Larson) told me you MUST loose those stock bushings. I weigh about 155 lbs, and run white Khiro's in front and red in back. Go to pavedwave.org to look at bushing setups for bennetts. Get a bunch of bushings and try them out, it makes a world of difference in how the trucks perform. Get a wedge kit and try different angles also, After playing around with bushings and angles, the board has a completely different feel to it. I was happy with stock bushings in my ignorance, but now couldn't go back, there is just such a big difference.
You will want to "dewedge" the rear truck.Khiro wedged risers are already 7 degrees, you get two in one package.
If you are on a budget this (the wedged risers) will be a decent start. The Rail Riser kit by Khiro might be a little expensive if you are starting out. But once you have the slalom sickness then it will be important to have.
The Logan (30") has a short 16.25" wheelbase and you can use it on tight slalom. Your next board should have a multi hole set up meaning you can adjust your front and rear truck forward and or back as needed for the particular slalom course/hill. You have small wheels now for tight, next expenses get some 70mm wheels 80a duro.(for a longer board) Many tight slalom or TS boards are about 18"+ wheelbase.
Also watch tons of video on how to "pump through" cones. There are some great race video out there, Some day I too will be able to pump through a course well.
Wear a helmet!

You have a great start for trucks..... Bennett and RTS combo is a great start. Follow GPymp's advice for wedging. Don't wedge that front truck any more than 10 degrees though. Many slalomers wedge their front truck more, but with a Bennett it is counter-productive. 10 degree max, 7 degrees ultimate IMO.
Bennett Alligators are great wheels for slalom, but yeah, you need the 71mm. 62mm may be alright for flat ultra-tight stuff as they are a bit more thrusty (technical term), but don't have the top-end/momentum of a taller wheel, needed on sloped more open (though not too much) courses.
A deck with wheelbases (preferably adjustable) from the 19-21 inch range would also be good (giving you that balance between turnability and stability on faster downhilll courses.
Wear a helmet, keep practicing, and beware of addiction.... Slalom rules!
Ok ok cool, sounds good. So I'll use the logan for tight runs, but what deck would you guys suggest which have that adjustable wheelbase? I'm thinking I like the pocket pistols a lot.
I've also got some 70's flashbacks...but is 75a too soft?
Thanks for all the awsome advice guys!

Pocket Pistols DP has adjustable track placements.
Flashbacks are an absolute no. No matter the duro.
Sector 9 has a decent wheel for 39.00 bucks. (4) See this link. Mile High Skates
Or if you get some used abec 11 70mm zig zags. Again 80a duro is preferred.
