Default [Beginner Setup] What would you recommend?

Hey guys. First time posting in the Slalom section I guess...

I'm an "experienced-sort of" skater, who started longboarding a couple years ago...and it's about time I start hitting some cones, or better yet avoiding them. It's been a long time since I wanted to get into slalom.

So...

I'm 6.1", 200lbs.

Looking for a cheap Slalom/TS/GS beginners setup. I want something cheap but with the strong euro...maybe "cheap" will still get me some better than average stuff. Let's say 200-225usd. I know I'll be needing some bennetts or tracker rts/rtx... different duro wheel combos, crazy bushing combos. Wedging/dewedging... Basically a whole new world opens, and I don't think I'm able to get my answers alone. Also I'm not able to try slalom setups and get the feel of it as noone has a proper slalom setup around here, or a longboard one...

You guys have to point me in the right direction. I ear theres a lot of Euro brands that are great such as Pavel, GOG and Kaliber. I'm open to other brands (PP, Skaterbuilt, Fullbag whatever) but the Euro ones will be easier to get without customs hassles.

Thanks in advance.

well i prefer the bennett/seismic or bennett/rts. I like the Kaliber boards alot but a good starter would be the axe for sure or even a fullbag (my favorite)

Pavels and GOG's are good (never really looked at kalibers) but are considerably expensive and are going to break your budget with just the deck. I would go with a pps for what you want it will work for ts or gs with the wheelbase options they come with. Bennett/rts combos work well but the rtx/rts will do work just as well. I would go with with 70mm zigs or 69mm hotspots since they are both really good wheels. A khiro bushing kit will sufice with whites and oranges for your front and blues and red sfor you back and if you buy rtx/rts I would go double soft khiro wedge on each truck or with a bennett a khiro and a flat riser will work better.

Sk8Kings is a great starter deck, fantastic service. They'll even set it up with bushings tuned for your weight. The price is right too.

Bennet (front) and the Tracker Race X(front) and S (rear) are good low priced slalom trucks.

Transitioned, where are you located?
I think knowing a country of origin might be helpful in figuring out what you can get within your budget.

Transitioned, I guess your in Europe. Check out coneracing.com located in France and ask them for advice. They have everything you will need for an excellent beginner setup from Pavel and Axe wood boards, Fullbag wood/arborite boards, Rtx/Rts trucks, modified Bennett KH front truck (ball pivot and 100mm hanger), and your choice of wheels.

If you want a setup that will help you get started but won't limit your progress for the next couple of years, go for a Fullbag (of course! ), a Bennett KH in front, a RTS in the rear, and your choice of 70mm Zigs or 69mm Black Ops Hot Spots.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. I'm in Portugal, so I'll check out Coneracing. Still, the Fullbag decks look amazing Miguel. I'll probably start gathering some of the other stuff, trucks and wheels.
