Default Slalom on a street board?

Had a little practice session by myself today at the Rose Bowl, and decided to try something stupid. I got out my freestyle/street board, and gave it a few runs:

Incidentally, the hand/knee slide @ :34 was 34' (I measured the puck/cap tracks left on the asphalt)...

    wow, i congratulate you!
yes, an uber-grippy, square-lipped slalom wheel IS the best for sliding

There was a guy that ran the course clean at the race in St Louis last year on one of those Termite mini street decks. He was using slalom wheels and risers I believe. The point is that he did the whole course (66 cones at 6' or was it 6.6' apart center set) clean and at a decent speed.

Decent speed - as in competetive time??

Curious, cause I'd like to encourage the park skaters to run a course or two, but I envision clocking some really high times to put it all in perspective.

In this case, no. Based on times taken from the video, I was about 2-3 seconds slower than on my slalom board. The surface was rough enough that it was impossible, even pushing as hard as possible, to get rolling as fast as on 70mm Zigs, and that also made traction an issue. But on smooth surfaces, like at skateparks with wide open areas, I can easily get pumping about as fast as I can on a slalom board. I'd like to try this again on a really smooth surface, and see how close I can get...

    Keep tryin' I say.

I have an old school kickflipper that I've wedged + + and put soft bushings and wheels on. 14" WB is short and turny as hell. Ive run the course on it...

What other competitive things can I get the shortboarders into if I pull off a few slalom events, and want to be inclusive (he wonders aloud)?

Pop stick drag race? Open class drag race? (please, borrow one of our bombers)

High ollies contest, sort of a reverse limbo?

Best costume? (Ha ha... or style?)

I'm not going to put on a freestyle comp, but looking for ideas to perk their interests in DH, or just showing up...

    Any ideas?

teach 'em how to slide, then show them a hill. things should progress after that.

    Sliding, check!

    Great Idea.

I learned and taught one of the kids I work with just last year. Made gloves and watched the how-to's and went at it.

I suck, but I don't plan to keep sucking.

Santa somehow overlooked my Corchia and Slide-A's (I got underwear), so as soon as the weather breaks, I'm on that.

    TY
