Default Help me setup my deck!

So I built a slalom deck a while ago.

And now I want to set it up. (Indys are no good at turning.)

    Dementions are such-
    Length- 32in
    Width- 9in
    Wheel Base- 19.5in and 20.5in
    It's a little flexy, I weigh 185lbs.

I'm looking for something cheap to get started on. I was thinking bennets 4.3, or maybe randall 125 for the rear?

I have a khiro bushing kit and access to tons of other bushings. I have plenty of angles risers. I have o-tang 4pres wheels or pink 7-os. I don't think I'm going to buy new wheels, but I am buying trucks. I'm looking to spend about $50.

    Any advise helps, thanks!

Tracker RTS/X combo in 106mm, maybe 129mm, perfect starter slalom trucks, and using your wedge risers you should be able to get a decent setup. The 4pres wheels should work as well.

Cool, thanks. I didn't even look into tracker... Don't know why... they're cheaper than anything else.

I wouldn't mind spending the extra few bucks to buy bennets, but I know nothing about slalom... so... would the 4.3s be good? And would I use the same truck front and back, or something different in the back?

Get a Bennett 4.3 for the front and a 106mm Tracker RTS for the rear. That should get you started in the right direction.

What are the major differences in bennets and tracker rtx and tracker rts?
Like ride height (not really that important), lean and turning ability.
I've looked into it a little, but I haven't found what I'm looking for....

I don't have much experience with slalom but i'll try (don't quote me)

ride height shouldn't be too important because you can add risers and wedge to angles (so it's easy to change) and a higher deck isn't a bad thing.

you want your back truck to not turn much (i.e. dewedging, hard busings rtS(as in stable)) and then you want your front truck to do all the steering (soft bushings, wedging, etc.) I don't know the difference in performance between a bennet or rtx front though sorry.

The Bennett is similar in performance to the RTX, but I like it better as a front truck

The RTS is a rear truck

Wedge them both with the thin edge of the wedge towards the nose

This is a proven race combination

What width for both trucks? 4.3 in bennett and 106 for tracker, right?

That sounds like the setup I want.

Thanks, I'm going to do that then. It's sounds fun, I've never had a setup with different trucks before.

I just ordered a Bennett 4.3 and a Tracker RT/S! I'll let all you nice, wonderful, beautiful, smart slalomers know how I like it.

    Thanks again.

Indys turn. You just need the right bushings and maybe a longer kingpin. My Indy 101's turn better than my Tracker RT-X's. Although my Bennetts turn better than all of them.

You did right with the Bennett/RT-S combo. That is a great slalom set up.
I like that board of yours too. Very nice.

    Thanks!

The Indy I have are 149's? I think... Or there-abouts. I still have the short kingpin, so bushings are limited... and I have yet to dial them in...

149 is a bit wide for slalom anyway. I fyou can get some longer kingpins in those Indys they wil turn way better, even on stock bushings.

I ordered one Bennett 4.3 and one Tracker RT/S 106. It was cheap. And seeing as I made the board... Nothing cheaper than that. And if I bought the board it would have only been $70...

i have a mini that is only 7.5 wide. do you think that if i got the same trucks as you (4.3 front and rst back) it would work? i need some pedestrian slalom, but also wanna do some deep carving kinda stuff. does your setup carve well at all?
    i ride longboards for fun.

I got my stuff in last night! I realized that I ordered a rt/x instead of a rt/s.... But I decided to keep it, with a little de-wedging it should be ok.

But man! It feels great to be able to turn!

    Thanks again guys.
